Sock1- flip flop "footten"

Ok- here it is the left "footen" mitten for your feet! I am making it to wear on cool days with flip flops. I need to make the four toe part just a hair longer. The picture makes my feet look really short and wide. Hopefully when I fix the toes and knit up the second one, the picture will come out more normal.

Testing was great!

Testing yesterday was great, but really, really, really cold and windy. The weather forecast called for 63 degrees. It was about 8 degrees colder at the Speedway and VERY windy. I was not dressed appropriately and froze for 8 solid hours. It was definitely very cool, listening on the scanner to the drivers and crews talking back and forth. Tony was funny. Apparently he sent his spotter a 4am wakeup call, and his spotter threatened his rental car. The paint scheme on his car was a lot prettier (don't know if he'd appreciate the word pretty) in person than the picture advertising the diecast. I so have to get the diecast! I also have developed a whole new appreciation for the race photographers in Nascar Scene and Nascar Ilustrated. Half 0f my pictures are of a blank racetrack!

Pocono Testing tomorrow!

I have tickets for the test session tomorrow at Pocono Speedway! I am totally psyched! I've never actually been to a test session before. i've seen pictures of a special paint scheme Tony's got on his car for the test session, I have to get that diecast! so hopefully the next time i post there will be some cool pic's to post.

i can finally almost write about Saturday's race. Leading the race by a convincing margin and then with 2 laps to go an F'ing flat tire!!! AARRGGHHHHHHHH! i know Tony's a slow starter, but come on! The worst luck, absolute worst luck ever!

fencing demo

Angel and 4 other fencers did a demo at a local middle school as part of a Medieval festival. The kids loved it. I think they found a few recruits for next year's team.

Angel's anklets

After finally finishing angel's anklets (modified the toe to fit her feet, the second toe is really longer than the big toe - they look like elf socks until she puts them on. LOL) I finally got her to sit still long enough to put them on and take a picture. Made with the remains of Magic Stripe yarn left over from another project.

As you can see I spent a lot of time this past weekend (when not watching the burnout competion, the Sprint Open and the Allstar Race of course) shopping for plants and potting them (in the rain I might add) I was a little bit worried at work this morning as the temps here in NJ are only around 55. The pots look dry, so either the wind has dried the soil, or the rain did not get the pots as watered as I had hoped. I guess after dinner I'll be watering. I am hoping/planning to take pics wth some regularity and posting them here. In addition to the pots shown, I have an urn with basil in it, and 2 urns with geraniums and sweet potato vines. I also picked up some hosta and pachysandra plants for by my steps, I'm not sure how they will fair as the ground is pretty rocky and crappy there. I still have 4 window type boxes I haven't filled yet, and a grape tomato I need to get a hanging pot for. I still haven't decided if I'm going to pick up some eggplant as last year I waited too long to pick them and they were seedy and tough.

I have been a member of Ravelry since last November. I'm in some really great groups, and have even got together with some other knitters in my area. The store finally opened on Saturday evening - almost wore out my finger refreshing and I got my tote bag!!! YAY!!! Now I just can't wait for it to come. I'll have to start stalking the postman!

I have to make these sock blockers

sock blockers

How cool are these?? I've been hanging my hand knit socks off of pants clips on hangers, but it stretches out the ankle or toe a bit. I have to go to the dollar store tomorrow. I saw some vinyl covered wire hangers last time I was there.

Hello!

Ok, I have finally decided to enter cyberspace for real and start a blog. I plan on updates on my daughters busy life, probably a bit of venting about that as well. Also updates on my knitting and crochet projects. As the title of my blog suggests, I am attention span challenged so whatever my mind is rambling about at the time will show up here at some time or another.

Quick update on what's going on right now: My daughter's track and field team are currently undefeated. Today is the conference championships, which I am NOT allowed to attend as she claims I will make her nervous. She throws discus and javelin, and is a backup shot thrower. She 's definitely on the lower end of average in shot, so they have to be desperate to put her in there. Her discus relay squad came in first place at the county frosh/sophs a few weeks ago.
She takes dance lessons (used to compete but cut back to participate in varsity sports) and will probably miss her recital if her team makes states which seems very likely right now.

Tonight is the Multicultural dinner at her school so I have to meet her there at 7pm with a tray of Japanese curry chicken. At least it's an easy dish to make for a lot of people.
