Haiku Wednesday

Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

The basics: Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

Here are the rules:

Structure: While Haiku may be written by some in other styles, for THIS meme only 5-7-5 is acceptable. At least one of your haiku must be in this format.
Theme/Prompt: We have a new prompt each week, and your haiku needs to be related to it, if not include the actual word in it. Feel free to leave a word suggestion in a comment!
Linking: When you post your link, link to the blog post with your haiku, not to the main page of your blog.
Reciprocate: If you participate and post your link on my website, you must have a link back here on your post. It’s only fair.
Folks not complying with the above risk having their links removed. Don’t make me be all “Grrrr” and stuff, it makes me grumpy! Thanks for your cooperation!
P.S. This is a really busy time for me – I may not get around to everyone each week. Sorry about that, but unfortunately I need to attend to business before pleasure!

This week’s theme is: Celebrate

Family and friends

Share joy as two lives join,

Happy Mom, Proud Dad.

This haiku is for you Grace!!!

Grand Am / Rolex

Catching up here... On Mother's Day, Curt and I went down to Millville - almost 3 hours- a lot for a tiny state like NJ, to New Jersey MotorSports Park for the Grand Am/Rolex race.  In the GrandAm series there is basically one driver for me - Max "the Ax" Angelelli.  (ok in the GP cars I have a lot of respect for Dempsey - he loves racing, created a team... but can actually drive- so props, but not stalk worthy)  Yes, I stalked Max-  outside his hauler

In the garage:

I had a brief laugh at the fact that Scott Pruett's team have custom (matching the car) bikes.

Untitled

Decided this dude was just a little to comfortable with a heat gun... hand him the hairspray.

Untitled

Caught some hijinks as the crew locked Max's co-driver Ricky Taylor out of the hauler

Untitled

I had my picture taken with Ricky

Finally, success!!

Untitled

He even smiled for my camera!

Of course the stalking didn't end there.

That's Wayne Taylor - the team owner and Ricky's dad  next to Max in the garage

Ok - the actual race later

Memorial Day

While you have your barbeques, shop the sales, plant you flowers, take a moment to remember those who paid the price for you to be able to do so.

Grace

A lot of you know or know of my friend Grace. (Her blog is in my side bar as Loving Comfort Knits)  Curt and I had the privilege of being invited to her daughter's wedding yesterday.  We had a wonderful time despite only knowing most of the people from HER blog posts.  The bride was gorgeous, the groom was clearly in love, the JoP was a funny old dude.  I kinda think it would be rude to post pictures of the bride- so you'll have to check on Grace's blog for that,

Here is a picture of me and Grace before the ceremony:

And here's a picture of Grace and Tom during the reception

Tom made these gorgeous butterflies as favors:

But there was some sort of mix up and the butterflies ended up at the wrong tables (that little tag had a couples name on it)  Grace got a bit upset about it and started trying to fix it.  But the music was loud, and her legs were bothering her - so I tried to help her.... and became the weird butterfly lady.  I took a stack to the table they should have been at, got all but one couple correct, took the butterflies from that table back to Grace to find out where they should be etc etc.

At one point I couldn't find Grace and checked the lady's room - someone yelled "there aren't any butterflies in here"  As the reception wound on, it got more difficult as people started tearing the tags off.  And as more people danced - there were a lot of empty tables.  Then people started  coming up to me to tell me they didn't have a butterfly!!!  So curtis started calling me the crazy butterfly thief...

Well, there is always one nut case at a wedding, and try as I may... it's usually me....

How weird is this

Since Blogger changed it's posting page - I really haven't been looking at the different links.  I checked out one link- views by country.... How bizarre is it--- and should I be worried?  that page views from the former Soviet Union are almost as many as view from the USA??

I knit Sneakers!

I started with "How To" directions for high top Chuck Taylors.  I decided to use keds instead - and discovered that while Chuck Taylors have 4 pieces that start flat at the sole and just shape with decreases - keds are SIGNIFICANTLY more complicated in shape.

(ignore the pin heads - the glue was still wet when I took the pics)

Of course since the yarn is wool - and there are really 2 layers since it is colorwork - I won't be wearing them until winter... but still... I knit sneakers!!
