Drawing in the Sand

I don't know what happened to my original post.  I was on question 13 and some how deleted it from existence.  This is take 2 which is never as good as take 1.

Welcome to the July 29th edition of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
We pick a subject, and your job is to interpret it anyway you want.
Write about it on your blog... simple as that.
Maybe you can interpret it as a picture - we don't care!

Please only leave a link if you have written a Thursday Thunks post.
Don't forget to go visit the other
participants' blogs.
Read and comment about all their Thursday Thunks responses!
That's what all this is about after all, isn't it?
We'll have so much fun and become lifelong friends....
The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of Janera Jepson's eyes and the number 3.

1. We know how creative Berleen is with her terrific tee-shirts and such, so how about you? Do you draw anything or perhaps your name in the sand when you go to the beach? I knit and crochet.  When I am at the beach I am in the water not on the sand.

2. Kimber doesn’t always leave her house. I wonder if she knows what is out her back door. What is out your back door? I don't really have a backdoor.  A sliding door onto the balcony/ container garden/ refuge from reality.

3. Do you prefer the beach, a pool or a lake? Why? Depends.  I love the ocean more than the beach.. I love being in the water. The rougher the water the more I love it. Like challenging Poseidon and surviving.  Curt says Angie and I start devolving back to the sea.  When I was young and I spent summers at my grandparent's shore house and I used to love to walk the beach during storms.

I live near a lake.  I love the serenity of the lake in the early morning, when I'm awake but most of the world sleeps.  I love the way the lightening hits the lake during summer storms. I would love to live in a house right on a lake.

I used to spend a lot of time in pools. Water volleyball and polo - although if you are on the other team I may have hurt you.  Now the best thing about a pool to me is the swim up bar!

4. What is something recently that happened to you that you are REALLY excited about? Can't/won't say on the internet.

5. I am fortunate that I come from a very close family. Are any of your great-grandparents still alive? If not did you ever meet them?I was raised by my great grandfather for most of my childhood.  He was an amazing man. I still miss his sharp wit and dry sarcastic humour. The best thing he taught me? live your life your way. Every action has a consequence.  Some good some bad, some depends on how you view it.  Think about the consequence and if you are willing to pay up without complaining go for it. (yeah, dangerous lesson to someone like me!)

6. When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group? Tell us about it. At the last All Store meeting.  Too many people were confused and thus screwing up the pack down/ out of stock sticker process.  I was supposed to "re-train" them.  Fail.

7. Have you ever bungee jumped? Would you ever bungee jump? Seriously?  Is hell No an acceptable answer?  If something goes wrong you just get pounded into the ground over and over and over again.  At least when you sky dive ( I have almost 100 jumps)  if somethingwere to go wrong you only hit the ground once.  And I am more scared of being really f'd up and in pain than death.

8. How strong emotionally do you think you are?Unfortunately pretty strong.  It is so tempting to attempt to be one of those "damsels in distress" and fall apart sometimes.  but I just can't do it.  I have survived a lot.  I don't discuss most of it.  I guess it's true if it doesn't kill you ( even if it almost kills you) it will make you stronger.

9. Kimber and Berleen still have NEVER met, yet they are best friends. What is the first thing you notice about people when you meet them? Their eyes, followed closely by their hands, and if it a cute guy - his ass.

10. Who do you mess with the most? The Angie.

11. Who was the last person you talked to on a landline? The Angie's dentist's office called about half an hour ago to change her appointment by 30 minutes so they could work a family in.

12. I finally saw Avatar this week. What was the last movie you watched long after it came out and loved? Madagascar  ( love the Penguins. "the penguins are insane")

13. What did you dream about last night? I don't usually remember dreams from nighttime.  When i do they are very surreal.  I am more likely to remember dreams from naps.

conjunction Junction what's your function?

You Are a Conjunction

You are a deep thinker, and you're always looking for the connections between things.

You see the whole big picture as far as the world goes. You are good at developing intricate theories.

In your view, we are all interconnected. The little things we do effect one another, and the results are pretty interesting.

You tend to be a mix and match type of person. You like unusual pairings - in food, style, and in company.

Expressive

hey Gracie!!! More knitting/crochet content!! LOL!

Some of you may know that I make afghans with a bunch of my NASCAR knitting friends for Victory Junction Camp, a free camp for kids with medical issues that would otherwise prohibit them from going to summer camp, in North Carolina.  At the camp each campers bed is covered by a handmade  quilt and an afghan.  At the end of the session the camper gets to take the afghan home, so they are always in need of afghans.  WE turn it into a friendly competition, scoring points either by square or by afghan.  You get more points for your driver if you send in a completed afghan, so for Tony ( you were surprised I'm on Team Tony??) I am willing to suck it up and seam up the squares.

This year, during the off season we had the option of getting "starter squares" from orphan squares from last year.  This way the orphan squares have the opportunity to get  into an afghan.  I received my squares in I think February.  But have not even thought about the afghan since.  I think I was a bit burned out on afghans after the rush to finish last year.  These are the squares I received.

IMAG0196.jpg

The square in the middle is the difficult one, it is a much brighter and shinier turquiose than is shown in the picture.

So this past week I knit these three "almost squares"  My row gauge was off and I didn't realize until I had knit the border on top, so I made 2 more so they can be the top or bottom row and line up.

IMAG0197.jpg

And during today's race, I made up a granny square.

IMAG0198.jpg

This is a much brighter pink than what is showing up in the picture.  Since I have no bright turquiose yarn, my plan is a few squares that are bright to balance it out.

This quiz is almost good - the second section is pretty inaccurate, I made a note about it.

You Are Expressive

During your downtime, you like to develop ideas and work on creative projects.

You secretly wish that you could be a more successful person. Being rich is a dream of yours.Seriously - not really true. I can pay my bills, buy my yarn, go to the races - I'm good.

You are realistic about the world. You may have challenges that come your way, but you can overcome them.

You are inspired by your own thoughts and observations. You don't need much outside influence in order to feel inspired.

Rats, Triscuits, Socks, Aphrodite

I am slowly, very slowly coming out of my knitting funk.  Can I blame  my phone?  The ability to check out Ravelry, Twitter and IM during my lunch hour seriously encroaches on lunchtime knitting.  Not to mention Sudoku at my finger tips.  It's kind of ironic that the more time I spend on Ravelry, the less time I have for knitting.

I did knock out a few projects recently though.  As some of you may know Felix Jung recently lost his big brother Ocs.  Since I spent time in Philly visiting with his mom, Min last week I thought I would bring him a couple of toys.  First his "Triscuit" (Its supposed to be a mouse, but I don't think so)

Fe's triscuit

Since I wasn't happy with the Triscuit, I decided to use Wendy Johnson's pattern for a felted mouse.  Which I think came out more like a rat.  I knew I had a winner when I pulled it out of the washing machine at the laundromat , by the tail , and the woman who worked there screamed!  Yes!!

Fe's rat

rIMAG0170
The funnel is to stuff the rat's ass with catnip.

Here's a pic of Fe sleeping it off after:
Fe in his fortress

I also finished my first sock and started my second last week.

IMAG0194.jpg

And I finally started working on my VJAC afghan - after receiving my starter squares in February! I know leave it to me to wait for a heat wave to start an afghan!

Oh, and I also am almost done with a "minion" just need bigger googly eyes.  And I made a Angel/Dunkin Donuts inspired Valkyrie.  ( Angie's room is Dunkn Donuts Pink and Dunkin Donuts Orange - a fact she didn't realize until later) Both of these projects are crochet.

You Are Aphrodite!

A total shining star with a ton of admirers

And no wonder: you live life to the fullest!

When things get bad, you can easily take off to a happier place

But occasionally, you need to deal with problems head on

We'll have so much fun and become lifelong friends....

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of Jill Hennessy's marriage certificate and the number 33,333,333.   A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO BUD, FOR SAVING THE THUNKS THIS WEEK!! (I DON'T REMEMBER THAT WORD THAT THOM ALWAYS USES, AND I'M TO LAZY TO INVESTIGATE, SO IN HONOR OF THE FRENCH TWINS) MERCI!!!

1. What is the most common question that you are asked (in life) that is none of the questioner's business? I used to think it was if you aren't Spanish what are you.  ( I really don't think I look Spanish, the people who guess Hawaiian are equally wrong but probably closer) But even if I was of Spanish descent - the DNA would not give me the ability to speak the language!
But, like I said this USED to be my most annoying question.  Recently there has been a huge rash of people who think it is appropriate to ask me why I only had one child.  They then continue with  couldn't you have anymore children? Like stopping at one was a biological decision.  Or don't you like kids?  Then there is always the " don't you feel guilty that when you are gone she'll be all alone?"   Seriously people!! Only child, Angie is an only child. Get over it.  If we are close enough for you to know I will eventually tell you.  If not, leave me alone!

2. Who makes you happiest right now? It's a close tie between Curtis, and not Curtis, so we will go with Curtis.

3. Would you consider yourself to be spoiled? I think that a lot of women living my life would not consider themselves spoiled.  However, I think I am.  Curt lets me be myself.   Pretty quirky.  At work, kind of by default since they kinda need me, I pretty much get to be me.

4. Do you want to be famous one day? SInce I would more likely to be infamous than famous, the answer is no.  Seriously, I'm a jeans, barefeet and beer girl,  designer dresses, heels and champagne not my style.  So famous - no.

5. Could you handle being in the military? Not sure.  I can give orders.  I can make sure my orders get followed.  I can take orders from someone I respect.  Someone I don't respect, not so much.  Not sure if I have the kind of discipline that would lead to success, Little known fact, I got into West Point.  But at the time, women were not allowed to have the jobs that help one get promoted in a timely manner unless it was in the medical field.  I really battled myself, but in the end declined.  I then started rooting for Annapolis.

6. Do you believe in Karma? I think if you believe in Karma, you can unconsciously affect the outcome of an event.  I think you can look around the world and mean, selfish, evil people enjoy continued success and have luck just fall in their lap.  Kind, generous caring people suffer setback after setback.

7. What’s the stupidest thing you ever did with your cell phone? Dropped it in a pail of water.

8. Who knows a secret or two about you? I'm pretty much an open book, because seriously there are very few people who I actually care about their opinion of me.  And those people know me well enough that I really couldn't fake them out anyway.  But my BFF knows all, has heard everything, knows my personal inner struggles etc.
gramps
9. Who is the most experimental person you know? Depending on your definition of experimental, My father in law is the most "Mad Scientist" person who I know.  Don's the most  "frankenstein" experiment I know.  Dennis was the most "60's" style experimental person I know.   Sal definitely the most "sexually" experimental person, Mikey the most global culturally experimental.... ok most of my friends have brains from test tubes what can I say?

10. Last thing you did that ticked off your S/O (or if not in a relationship) most recent S/O?  Let me start by saying that most of my friends are men, most of the people I need at work are men, and um yeah Curt is a man.  So, not necessarily consciously, but not exactly unconsciously either, rather than just blatantly ask for something that I'm pretty sure will be answered with a yes anyway, I do this "Puss in Boots" look pretty please?
( from the first or second Shrek movie, Puss holds his hats and looks up with these huge eyes) that I seem to think will sway them in the yes direction.  Curt knows I do it, but gets really, really pissed when I do it to him instead of just coming out and asking him to do something.  Like I did when he got home WEdnesday, and after he helped me he went off and was pissy.

11. Have you ever purposely been irritating to someone? If yes, explain. I can sometimes be highly passive aggressive.  Sometimes I just decide to irritate someone who annoys me.  I guess the answer is yes, so often I can't really explain one instance.

12. What's crazy to you? Being a Dale EARNHART JR fan???  Second would be trying to be what you think other people want you to be.why?

13. Who (other than the three of us TT writers) writes the most interesting blog?  That I read regularly would have to be Thom at Thoms Place... ( see link on side) followed a close second by Grace's Loving comfort... ( see link on side)

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!
The basics:
Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Aging

Aching back, stiff knees

Need to wear eyeglasses now

Age waits for no one.

Comfortable jeans

That are easy to sit in

Replace the tight ones.

When did I become

The girl who doesn't go out

Rather cook instead?

Insidiously

The greys keep growing back in

Need to touch them up.

If you read these lines

A common theme emerges

kicking and screaming.

Really though I would

never go back to twenty

to much drama then.

Wow one that fits!

How weird is this?  When I was younger I always wanted a Victorian House.  We were talking a few days ago and my dream house has turned into a lakeside mediterranean villa near a ski area!

You Should Live in a Mediterranean Home

You are warm, friendly, and welcoming... and your home should be these things as well.

You like to work hard, but you also appreciate your down time more than most people.

You know how to kick back and relax. Other people find you a joy to be around.

You may not be able to be on vacation every day, but you like to bring a little vacation home with you.

Yarn Crawl Part 2

continued from yesterday

After lunch we went to Loop in South St.  if I am visiting Angie at Temple and want/need yarn they would be my Philly Yarn Store (PYS as opposed to my LYS- local yarn store!)  It is the second time I've been there and as opposed to the other stores on the crawl rather than looking for something I liked, Curt had to decide which ones I like better.  They have a really good selection over a wide range of fibers, weights and especially colors.  They have a really friendly and normal ( after my crawl that is now a factor) staff.  I bought a big 500ml bottle of Euclan to wash my knits with, the cutest yarn stitch markers in a case from hiya-hiya ( I used to be in an msn knitting group with Quianer Huang whose family owns the company)

IMAG0190

IMAG0182.jpg

The blue and the pink skeins are hand dyed Black Bunny yarns - she's the author of among other things Knitting Socks With Hand Painted Yarns.  It took me awhile to sort through the 4 bins and Curt figure out which 2 I liked best.  Angie took one look at the multi colored ones and declared I should make something for her with it. I asked her what - she said I don't know something knitted. (and to think she got into Temple's honors college)

We then went to Nangellini's farther down South Street.  This store was 1/2 art gallery, 1/2 yarn shop, 1/2 new age shop ( I know that adds up to more than 1 but some of the stuff overlapped categories)  none was done well.  They seemed almost desperate to get us to go upstairs - "most of the yarn is upstairs' "most of our books are upstairs" "if you like that most of the items like that are upstairs".  When you go up the stairs you have about a foot and a half to turn left or you'll fall down another set of stairs!  They had some Mirasol, but not much selection.  A weird sales assistance sign:

Weird service sign

because the way it's typed up it reads "we are here to help you"  "figure it out" and it really wasn't obvious they were there to help so I guess people had problems figuring it out?  When we came down the stairs there were  bunch of women sitting in a circle - not knitting, you'd expect that- that were talking and when we came down were just staring at the walls. Odd. Maybe we interupted their coven or something! So I didn't buy anything there either.

Lastly we headed to Sophie's.  I really didn't have much hope for that place because apparently the best thing about the store was the cat!  We got there and the door were locked.  Looking in the window, the place was 3/4 empty and what was there was on sale.  So I guess the cat wasn't enough to keep them in business. After the fact we thought it would have been hysterical  if we had done a yarnie rendition of the Eaton Center shopper who wanted to get into shop when the mall was locked down due to rioting during the G20 summit.

After that we headed for the sushi place where we a couple of people at all you can eat sushi.

Friday, Curt and I had breakfast at Marathon Grill which was a couple blocks from the hotel.  I had a super yummy wild mushroom, spinach and goat cheese omelet.  We then checked out and went to Franklin Mills Outlet mall, mostly to be inside not outside in the heat and humidity.   We did pick up a few things.  had lunch at the food court, then went back to Temple to get the Angie.  Which of course required a stop at the book store to get some Temple attire.  We picked up Min again, were stood up by Kirsten and her husband, and went to Minar Palace for Indian food.  I had eaten Indian a few weeks ago at the graduation party of one of Angie's Indian friends and it was really good, Angie wanted Indian to see how restaurant food was different than her friends mom's food.  The food was great - none of us could finish it.  We were going to listen to the truck race on the way home, but it was delayed because of a power outage due to a pole down on the highway - so I fell asleep!

Yarn Crawl Part 1

Angie had her freshman orientation on Thur and Fri this week.  She also got to meet with her advisor ( with the Honors College it's a staff and she can see any of them) to make up her schedule for fall semester.  She is taking the same approach to college courses as she took in HS. She is taking 17 credits, all fulfilling one or more graduation/major/honors requirements except French.  She placed out of the first 2 years of French - so that fulfills her foreign language, but she really likes French, "it's easy" to her and she discovered that one of the honor societies she wants to get into doesn't count the placement test.

She placed out of several semesters of math as well, so she will take statistics next semester and not need any more math. ( meanwhile my brain is in convulsions - I went to an engineering school and had 24 math credits)  She is really good at math but, gulp, doesn't like it.

Off to orientation
Ready for orientation!

While she was in orientation we stayed at the Latham Hotel - it has a floor 13!!
Most hotels go from 12 to 14, and since we stayed on 12, I noticed the 13 right away.  I even pushed it once to make sure it would stop at a floor and it did! (yeah I'm a dork)

Thursday I went on a yarn crawl with my friend Min.  First we went to Narberth to a store called EWE AND I .  I got a skein of Lorna's Laces that reminded me of an outfit I used to wear in college all the time.  Enough so , that Curt remembers it.

They were really friendly, and we had a fun discussion of how college and dorms etc have changed ( seriously Angie's dorm has central air!) Parked in front of the shop was a car with knitting plates.  (Some background - there is a NASCAR driver Clint Boyer who looks like a serial killer. My friends and I refer to him as TSK) I misread the plates as TSK Knits and thought oh my god, CLint Boyer knits?! (yes Dork I already admitted it)

I thought clint boyer knit

We then went to a "highly recommended by several members of the Philly knitters" LYS  THE TANGLED WEB.  We were in the shop for at least 5-6 minutes before anyone even looked our way to say hello ( I know you can only help one person at a time, but said person usually won't mind if you just look over and say Hi) If you took out all the eyelash and ladder novelty yarn, there was like 5 kinds of Plymouth and not a really good color selection of them.  ( I really don't like the stores where it is obvious what color the owners like, and that's all they order. because unless those are the colors you like it's pretty useless and if you ever need to make a gift or swap they don't have the colors you need so I try to avoid them)  I usually try to buy at least something when I'm in a yarn store, because they don't have a really high customer count and have to compete with the internet and all that, but I'm not buying something I don't like either. I walked out of there empty handed.  Couldn't even find a pattern or stitch markers I liked!

We then went up te street to The Knit With.  I wish I had taken a picture of the outside.  Looked like an abandoned house.  Serious overgrowth, could barely read the sign through the vegetation covering it.  There were no lights on but the sign said open.  So we went up the stairs 9 Curt behind us wondering if he was going to have to save us from an axe murderer or something.  The door creaked! as we opened it and there was a weird  smell, like musty dirt - or Norman Bates mom...  An older ( mid-late 50's guy) came out and asked if we wanted the lights on - i mean how do you shop for something for which color is a big selling point in the dark?  Hmmm this feels like orange...  he kept asking Min weird questions, like was she from Hawaii - I look more Hawaiian than she does, and where was she from, West Philly apparently not the answer,  not where she was born, where was she from...  When she finally said she was from Kansas City he said that explained why she didn't have a Middle Earth accent ( did he think she was a hobbit?  I mean she is short, but she wears shoes and has correspondingly small feet not big hairy hobbit feet!)

He had a huge- not fat mind you, just huge white cat (Sancho) with one green and one blue eye who he had odd convos with.  At one point he kept asking the cat if he wanted his belly rubbed. (another important aside- my text/IM alert is Yoda saying "awe ooh, message from the dark side there is)  Curt had texted me about how weird the place was just then , and Min thought the alert was the cat!  So she's laughing saying " I don't think the cat  wants it's belly rubbed"  He did have an interesting selection of yarn, some that you don't see often and he had Mountain Colors and Anne sock yarn - two of my favs.  I bought a super bulky Italian yarn that caught my eye - and didn't smell - I checked!  I also got the finer mesh yarn bras that I like using.

From there we had lunch at a coffee shop that was fantastic!  I had a roast beef panini with spicy mustard and pepper jack cheese, and a side salad that was very cooling with lots of diced cucumbers.  I also had a triple macchiatto - the real kind not the Starbucks version!

This post is long enough so I'll cover after lunch tomorrow.

Ooops I'm an idiot!

Since I was going to be gone for the last 2 days, I did my Thursday thunks on Wednesday note, and had it set to publish at midnite Thursday morning.  The only problem is I didn't actually hit the "publish post" button, so it didn't publish.   I hit the button this morning, so it is finally up.

My post for today will be up this afternoon.  I'm off to have my fingers done~

Welcome to the July 15th edition of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)

Write about it on your blog... simple as that.
Maybe you can interpret it as a picture - we don't care!

Please only leave a link if you have written a Thursday Thunks post.

Read and comment about all their Thursday Thunks responses!
That's what all this is about after all, isn't it?
We'll have so much fun and become lifelong friends....

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of Jupiter's third moon and the number 3,333,333.

1. Billy Mays died about a year ago. What kitchen gadgets have you bought that you've used less than three times? What are they? My ice cream maker...

2. What celebrity would you like to shake some sense into, and why? Dale Earnhart Jr.

3. Jimmy Buffett just did on concert to benefit the victims of the Gulf. Name a Buffett song that you like. All of them. In this weather  "Margaritaville" is on top of the list.

4. How did you feel about Ringo Starr turned 70? Sorry - this may be sacriledge but I think the Beatles were over hyped

6. Trivia time. Do you know the first names of the French twins? Fifi and Mimi?

7. You are in the best seafood restaurant in Canada. What type of meat do you order? Why would I go to a seafood restaurant and order meat? well, Curt would order the chicken- on account of his seafood allergy.Depending on what part of canada, I'd go lobster, crab or salmon.

8. How far would an electric car have to go without a recharge before you'd buy one?1000 miles

9. Did you see that a high court ruled that you can swear on regular TV? What word can you just not wait to hear? I sorta talk like a longshoreman... a lot, I probably wouldn't notice. Except I hate the c word that rhymes with punt.

10. You are in the finest steak and rib joint in Kimberville (Arizona). What seafood dish do you order?Seriously dude- I'm sure red lobster is having one of their "fests"  you obviously need some shrimp or crabs or something!

11. What was the last concert that you attended that really sucked? I took Curt to see George Clinton at BB Kings in Times Square.  He really likes George Clinton.  Not really my music.  What sucked though, was the fact that even though you are no longer allowed to smoke in bars and restaurants in NY or NJ anymore, apparently this only referred to Tobacco.  Apparently Pot was ok, and joints were being passed around, around the audience up to the stage and back down.  Mind you I had 3 trucks to unload, and if anything happens even if it's my fault I have to go for a pee test.

12. What type of accent would you like to have, if you were forced to change yours? IRISH!!!

13. Kimber's got four kids with chicken pox. Berleen is not feeling the love today, so I was asked to host. What do you miss most when neither originator of TT is asking the questions I would say inane questions - but you made up for that with the steak/seafood questions!
I deleted by accident the question about sports not worth watching on tv.   (sorry  Curt) but hands down the  answer has got to be bowling.
So I'm leaving in a few hours to take Angie to Philly, for freshman orientation, so I wont check out all your thunks until the weekend, but I will look I promise.

Coffee or Tea?

Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Sensational Haiku Wednesday
Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!
The basics:
Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is:Chocolate!!!

White, milk, extra dark,

creamy, rich melts on your tongue,

The  ultimate treat!

You Are Coffee

You are highly ambitious and goal oriented. You feel like there isn't enough time in your day to get it all done.

You are outgoing and creative. You love talking with people, thinking up crazy plans, and then acting immediately on them.

When it comes to caffeine, you'd like a refill. You can almost always use an energy boost.

Life is too short. You're going to get as much out of it as you can. You live for today.

I still miss you Davey!

JJuly 13th 1993

Davey Allison died from injuries sustained in a helicopter crash in the Talledega infield the day before.  I stopped following NASCAR for almost 6 years.

After the last race of the season that year ( which also saw Alan Kulwicki die on a plane crash) Rusty Wallace won the race, Dale Earnhart Sr won the championship, the two drivers did a "polish victory lap" carrying the flags of the two drivers.  And yes, it still makes me tear up. Although at least it no longer makes me cry.

You Are "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness"

You don't just think that honesty is the best policy, you think it's the only policy.

You believe that it's important to be truthful, especially with yourself and the ones you love most.

No doubt about it, the truth is sometimes quite ugly. But we need to face how ugly it is before we work to change it.

You think the world would be a better place if all the lying and deception stopped. Let's lay the cards out on the table.

You Should Live in a Blue House

You are an intense thinker, but you also have a calm about you.

You spend a lot of time ruminating, trying to figure out this world you live in.

Friends think you're wise, and they come to you first for advice.

You are a realist, and you tell it like it is - even if how it is isn't pretty.

Quickie

So yesterday my attempt at embedding the song "summertime" didn't work. So It's summertime came across as to a statement regarding the seasons instead of the summer song "Summer time" so here is another attempt.

This is curiously accurate!

You Are Content

Some people may consider you to be too hyper, but you can't help it. You love life.

You are a naturally curious person. You are truly interested in how the world works.

You have very sweet and tender feelings about your friends. You truly miss your friends when you can't spend time with them.

Novelty and variety recharge you. You are a true adventurer at heart.

 Heatwave

Welcome to the July 8th edition of Thursday Thunks!

Please mention us in your post, and link back to the blog
here.
Don't forget to go visit the other participants' blogs.
Read and comment about all their Thursday Thunks responses!
That's what all this is about after all, isn't it?
We'll have so much fun and become lifelong friends....
The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of my eyes and the number 333333.

1. The temperature in Mooseheadville, Canada was 34 below. Most of the U.S. is in a serious heat wave. In Connecticut, it was 92 degrees in the shade. What do YOU do to beat the heat? As little as possible - mostly indoors in AC!

2. What is your favorite summertime song? Right now it's Summertime.  Of course, Margaritaville is always a classic.

3. Besides nude beaches what's your favorite outdoor summer activity?Racing!! smoke!

4. I'm inviting everyone to a cook-out with Kimber and Berleen. What should I cook for you? You're using charcoal not propane right?  If so I'll take a 3/4" thick shell steak.

5. When selecting your swimwear do you go for sexy or practical? Ocean or Pool?  I get into some serious body surfing at the Ocean, so that would have to be practical.  At a pool we can do sexy, although when you're in shape and said shape is round, that could be kind of tough.  In my youth it was always sexy.

6. Back in the day, did you ever have a summer fling? If yes, do tell. (Names not required.) Yes, every summer high school and college.  The one that most recently came up, is it turns out that between junior and senior year of high school, I went with a guy who was a lifeguard one town down from my grandparents shorehouse.  Turns out he was and still is bff's with a guy who is now a really good friend of mine.

7. Do you know anyone who hates air conditioning? If yes, what is their reasoning?Maybe vegetarians?  They seem to like to skip out on the good stuff in life?  Don't know any personally.

8. When and with who was your last skinny dip? Weekend after college graduation - with my "summer fling" from the year before.

9. How sick of LeBron James are you? Ok anyone who knows me in real life knows I'm a sports fanatic.  Football (49ers) Hockey (Devils) Baseball (Mets) All forms of Racing.  Basketball not at all.  I seriously don't have any appreciation for it.  So since I ignore his existence - not at all.

10. When you were a kid, what was your best summer? 1975.  Met my bestest friend ever.

11. Belly up to the bar. We serve ANYTHING. It's 100 degrees. What should we pour for you? ICE COLD SMITHWICKS,

12. Is there a favorite meal that you like to have in the summer? Grilled dead animal, grilled white corn, grilled portabellas, zuccini, yellow squash and cherry tomatoes.   my second fav would be any other meal that can be 100% done on the grill.

13. Do you think they will solve the oil spill in time for the Gulf states to enjoy summer.  Not very optimistic.
