THURSDAY THUNK

A Bunch Of Stupid Questions By Kimber

Welcome to the July 30th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 14 and the color of life. (2 questions by Ber, figure out which 2.)

1. You are in an enclosed space with a group of friends. Elevator, auto, small room, etc.. You fart and it really stinks. Do you take credit for it or do you play along with the questioning of who did it? Well to be truly honest (yes girl's fart) if I farted in an enclosed elevator everyone would be dead so there would be no need to play whodunnit.
2. You are locked in a room sitting at a desk with just a piece of paper and a purple crayon. What do you draw? My doodles tend to be abstract patterns.
3. Do you ever pee in the shower? Ick- no. Quick story, when I was in College and showering after a meet, the girl a couple stalls over peed. She must have been dehydrated or something 'cause her pee was really dark and everyone could see it!! In retrospect I almost feel bad for the mocking.... ok not really.
4. Have you bought, sold or got rid of something on Craigslist? Can honestly say after I finish here I will have to google Craigslist. Who is Craig? Why will he sell my stuff? Why do I want his stuff? These thunks create more questions than I can answer some weeks
5. You are in a convenience store. In the line in front of you is a drunk guy trying to purchase more alcohol. The cashier tells him they cannot sell it to him because he is obviously already intoxicated. He gets belligerent. The cashier is scared. What do you do? Well since you can't get out of Jersey without paying a toll, and the convenience stores here don't sell alcohol. I would wake up and go to the fridge for a nice cold beer!
6. While shopping for produce, do you "sample" before you buy (i.e. grapes)? Thanks to numerous beatings when I was a child I can't eat unwashed produce without going into convulsions - so no.
7. You are walking down the street and there is a toddler sitting on a bench by themselves in front of a store - do you just keep walking? Ok, once again welcome to Jersey, land of diners, strip malls and soccer moms. The closest stores that have benches in front of them are 2 towns away, so I wouldn't be walking. And since I generally go there for ice cream (Denville Dairy - best ice cream ever!) I probably wouldn't notice one more kid around. ( Yeah no maternal instincts here. Kind of defective )
8. Have you looked up an old friend and/or lover online? If the person was such a good friend they would be a now friend ( I have had the same bestest friends since I was 9, don't know why they put up with me, but saves me the trouble of making a lot more friends - don't worry Grace and Jacqui I do occaisionally make new ones!) so why would I look up a friend I couldn't be bothered to keep?? And if the old lover wa any good I'd've kept him around too wouldn't I?? Look forward people! The future lies ahead!!
9. You are nearly in a car/auto accident. Do you freak out, follow the person who nearly caused it & talk to them or just keep going? Ok, if I follow you, I will probably end up in jail because I can be really confrontational, I curse too much on a good day and it may end up physical. I will tell you I once pulled over when a toddler ran out into the street and the dumbass mom was sitting on the porch yelling at the 5 year old who "should" have been watching her brother while her mom smoked. I yelled at the mom that a 5 year old does not make adequate supervision. and her son was almost killed. She responded saying I had a nice car and she had a good lawyer. ( I was on my way to my FIL's house and was sort of in the hood) I flipped out completely. I told the lady (who was black) THAT IF HER KID WAS WORTH A COUPLE OF MIL FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO HER- no wonder white people had no problem selling them 200 years ago, I almost caused a riot. The cops were involved, it wasn't pretty. Mind you my husband is black and my daughter 1/2 black. So no, following someone not a good idea for me!

Beale Street - Rum Boogie Cafe

We had lunch one day at the Rum Boogie Cafe. If you are ever in Memphis I strongly recommend it. Curt and I split a sampler meal. There was fried catfish, pulled pork, ribs, red beans and rice, gumbo and 2 other things (remember the mind is the second thing to go)
The food was soooooooooo good. Everything was as close to perfect as you can ask for, and my RL friends can tell you how into southern food I am - especially slow roasted smokey barbeque. Unfortunately we had absolutely no room left for even a bite of dessert.
One of the coolest things (other than the food of course) was the hundreds of signed guitars they had all over the place. That's Curt in the red shirt taking pictures of some. Here are a sampling of my fav's.

The Peabody

The Peabody Hotel in Memphis. It was kind of pricey for my normal vacations, but worth every penny. The sheets were amazing, the first night we had the southern special (forgot the exact name) cocktails, dinner etc.. The Peabody is one of the oldest hotels in Memphis. It is really close- a block or two from all the really cool stuff on Beale St.

I thought the lobby was amazing. Look at the wood work!
Another shot of the lobby. One of the really amazing things about the Peabody, is that they have these ducks that are trained, to take the elevator down from the roof at 11am walk across a red carpet to the fountain in the lobby, swim in the fountain until 5pm at which point they go back across the carpet, up the elevator to their rooftop "house" how cool is that? Seriously?

I realized I have soo many pictures from my vacation in Tennessee that I will have to break up the posts into small segments. I hope you enjoy these pictures. I have had a few people asking about pictures of Angie in Ecuador. I haven't downloaded them from her yet, but they are on there way. Promise.

Your mind is a firestorm - full of intensity and drama.

THURSDAY THUNK

I can't think of a catchy title

Welcome to the July 23rd version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Berleen, the number 22 and the color of the last road kill you saw.

1. You walk into a store and the cashier is being held up by a robber. The robber's accomplice is dead on the floor at your feet with a shotgun laying next to him. The robber does not see you, but the cashier does - what do you do? Um... who killed the accomplice?? I think we need to know this to make an informed decision. I'd like to think I'd get all Clint Eastwood and yell DUCK as I fire the shotgun, hoping like hell that a- the cashier understands English and b- there is a shell in the shotgun.clint_eastwood

2. We go to an ice cream shop for an ice cream cone. You say you are buying and I am going to stay in the car. You ask me what I want and I say "surprise me", what kind of ice cream cone am I going to get? Today I'm in a rum raisin kind of mood, so 2 scoops, waffle cone?

3. You have a dream that your co-worker, friend or whoever is hit by a garbage truck after they back into a ladder with a black cat on it. The next day you see that person standing by a ladder with a black cat on it and there is a garbage truck driving down the road.... what do you do? Hate to say it but laugh maniacally.

4. What is the most money you've won on a lottery or scratch off ticket?0.00 - I never won anything in a lottery, never won a 50-50, don't buy scratch offs. ( I only buy lottery tickets when they're over 20 mil though)

5. A neighbor kid down the street comes to your door and offers to wash all of your windows outside for $10 - do you have him do it? Am I wearing clothes in this scenario??

6. Go to Google Images. Type in the name of the last movie you saw. Post the first picture that comes up. pink Sad I know.

7. Your local animal shelter calls you and says there are 3 dogs that need an immediate foster home for 3 days. If you do not accept, the dogs are put down that day. Do you take them in? Um, where would I put them?? If I had room I'd adopt them, but unless they're teacup chihuahua's I can't help.picnikfile_grCAZF

8. What is the messiest room in your home? Right now that would be the dining room as that's where everything is ending up as I try to clean up/ organize.

9. Have you ever been to a wedding that participated in a strange tradition that you had never heard of? I don't mean to offend anyone, but my husband is Black. His black friends used to make a lot of fun of me for line dancing ( I'm into country music) Imagine my surprise when at one of their weddings everyone ran out onto the floor for the electric slide!

10. Name one sport that you just don't get. Olympic handball

11. What was the last email that came into your inbox about?Tilli Thomas Yarn on sale at Little Knits.

12. Have you ever purchased anything from a sex shop? Extra points if you tell us what it was.... Yes. Um this is kind of a vague question.., you want a list or the last thing?? And we don't get points - how do we get extra points?

13. Go back to that Google Images link... type in the last food item that you ate. Post the 2nd picture it comes up with.rotinibroccoli

14. Got any bumper stickers on your vehicle? What are they? Don't do bumper stickers.

15. What meme question do you wish was never asked again?Any question refering to either of my parents.

Travel pics

We stopped overnite in Staunton, Va right off route 81. When we were heading back to the highway we passed under a trestle and there was the coolest flower pot and watering can. They are huge - you can see the highway overpass to get the scale. I made Curt pull over so I could take a picture-

There was a cool building that looked like a guitar on 81 that I took a picture from the rest stop-

A few days later when we were heading to Nashville, we wanted to avoid the traffic we saw when we went past on the way to Memphis, so Curt's plan was to aim Garmin somewhere south of Nashville for lunch and then to the hotel would take us around the construction. As I was looking through all the brochures there was an ad for the Loveless Hotel and Cafe. Do you ever watch Throwdown with Bobby Flay? Carol Fay beat Bobby on biscuits and jam. So we went there. OMG - the food was awesome!! But I hate to say the biscuits were ok. I think she won off the jam. They give you three kinds of jam with your biscuits, peach, strawberry and blackberry. The blackberry was absolutely amazing!! We ended up buying jars of all three jams. There are a bunch of shops in what used to be the motel. We definitely helped stimulate the local economy on that stop. We even bought chocolate at an art gallery! How foofoo is that??

you are orange
#FFA500

Your dominant hues are red and yellow... most of what you do is motivated by your need to change things and have a good time, but you've been known to settle down and think out a situation, too. You tend to surprise people just when they're starting to feel like they've got you down.

Your saturation level is very high - you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn't be afraid to lead people, because if you're doing it, it'll be done right.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

Vaction Knitting & Yarn Shopping

As always, I brought way more yarn than I could possibly work on in the car on vacation. But better too much than not have anyting to do right? I didn't get all that much done because I was too busy bs'ing with Curt, checking out Braun's trucks on 81 (sad yes, very sad.... I need help) Actually saw 2 Walmart trucks that were not sleeper cabs (sadder) only saw 1 Estees truck that was a sleeper, seriously wondered what Stevens Transport hauled, they have such nice looking trucks. Trying to decide which trucks looked like they'd be fun to unload. ( I have issues). Curt was laughing at me for most of that.

But I worked on my next afghan for the Victory Junction Afghan Competition. VJ AFGHAN

Also on Carribean Dream - the StormCloud Shawlette, in Malabrigo sock in Caribeno. stormcloud shawlette

I only got halfway through the heel flap on Dragon's bruises.

I finished the caloriekerchief I was almost done with so I could wear it in Nashville. caloriekerchief2

Curt bought me some MMMalabrigo worsted at Bliss Yarns outside of Nashville. ( I couldn't get a good color shot, the parts that look brown are more of a dark brick red) mmmalabrigo worsted

I got some Happy Feet sock yarn.

Curt thinks I should make another kerchief with the number 14 knit in it, so he got some Tahiki cotton for me to work with. <3 him!
