Sunday Stealing ~ The Team Jeffie Meme

written by Thom - June 4th, 2011 at 5:28 pm
Please read: We have a bit of a twist to Sunday Stealing this week. We steal from blogs living or dead. It doesn’t matter to us. But the meme we stumbled across this week was the last post the man, Jeff, ever posted. It had a preamble from his wife, Amy. She explained he was in a terrible accident and directed people to her “Team Jeffie” website. We did a bit of searching. What happened to Jeff? We thought before we just go ahead and publish. But that did not seem right. Instead, we decided to find out if Jeff was okay and if his wife minded our theft. We wrote to his wife, Amy asking that question. Amy first wrote:

If you point to anything, please point to the Team Jeffie page here on Facebook (facebook.com/teamjeffie) — if you flip back through the entries from the past six months, you’ll begin to get a sense of how horrific these months have been. Especially for the months of December and January, when our only goals were ‘survival’ and ‘eventual consciousness.’
Prior to his accident, Jeff was an extraordinarily gifted engineer. In the past six months, he has relearned to breathe, to talk, to feed himself, to walk. We have learned, much to our astonishment, that if he perseveres with his therapy, there is a good chance that he might resume his engineering work — not now, not soon, but eventually.
Imagine a man who loves audio work so much that he was back mixing live performances when he still needed a walker, and still struggled to speak clearly all the time. (I should note that his skills survived the accident. It was amazing to see.)
Jeff, his family, his friends, and I have been through a lot. We are very real people going through a horrific life event, and we need genuine support and care, not curious onlookers.
We were extraordinarily introverted before the accident, and the months since have been doubly traumatic — not only are we going through this, we’re having to go through it with zero privacy.
Whatever you say … please be kind. That’s all I can ask.
We wrote her back to say that her words would introduce our meme. Today, please click on her Team Jeffiesite. Just say “hi” and wish him well. We’re hoping that those you with the time could also help our new friends Amy and Jeffie. Let them know they’ve got new friends that care. We hope we’ve been kind. God bless them. God bless you, our friends!
Bud Weiser
Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim’s post. (It’s our way of saying “Thanks!”) We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme’s best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let’s go!
Today we ripped off a blogger named Jeff from the blog Sliding Constant. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!
Cheers to all us thieves!

Randomness

First, here's a picture of dinner.  Homemade grilled flatbread pizza with baby portabellas, purple and cubanelle peppers from the garden, hawaiian sweet onions, of course garlic and 4 cheeses.

IMAG0233.jpg

Second I realized I never shared my Creepy Cute spring/summer color swap.  Mine came all the way from Australia!!  Many thanks to Kattie!!

IMAG0226.jpg

An Amazon, with the extra yarn to make her a boyfriend/love slave with.  Really cool earrings, and she made me a beaded bookmark!!  Thanks so much Kattie!!!

Third believe it or not, I actually managed to accomplish two more squares for my Victory Junction camp afghan.  They are based ( had to modify to get size) on smariek's diamond cloth pattern:

IMAG0232.jpg

No picture currently of my second sock, which is going painfully slow as I'm only really getting 2 rows done each lunchtime because it's been so hot!!

Finally, my friend Thom has taken over The Muffed Target     So at least for now, I'll try playing along.

RULES
Each Tuesday post a picture which is completely crazy, messed up, with nothing on etc, which normally you would immediately delete. It can be everything, like only shoes instead of the whole person, a blurred building or whatever you want. Then tell us the little story how it happened and what it should have been. Make sure you link by your post by signing the Linky Tools below.

Angie and I were making our way to the concession stands during the race at Pocono when they were interviewing Tony and showing it on the giant Sprint Vision screen.  I took a picture on my phone.  What I have discovered is I am much better off cropping pic's in iPhoto than on my phone.  The color and graininess must end up corrected on iPhoto and the resolution is better too.  I didn't realize this at the time and cropped a perfectly good picture into this crap on my phone.  PS I do love my phone - just not for cropping.

Dating Profiles

Welcome to The Dating Profiles Meme . This meme is based on a feature from WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. This is a bit different than an "answer this question" meme. Either you have used sites such as Match.com or Yahoo Personals or you’ve read them. Weekly, we scour those on-line dating sites to respond either a person's profile or often their headlines as most of us would really like to do. We use only "lines" that are gender-neutral. So, your mission is to respond to ten we choose each week. Seriously or with humor is your choice! The spelling or grammar errors were in the original profiles. Join us each and every Friday!

The Dating Profiles Meme: Pride and Joy

1. My pride and joy is my cat Spike.  I've always considered Spike to be  a dog's name, but if that's the best you can come up with maybe you should get a few more and be the crazy cat lady.

2. I run, do pilates, zumba, and can dance anywhere.  I have a driver's License.  I really prefer driving a car to get from point A to point B ( or a Harley) but not a zumba!

3. I'm into to going to Home Depot for house projects that I think I can master but never do.  Do me a favor, stay out!  I have a lot of work to get done in my day, and "non-customers"  asking a lot of questions take up a lot of time.  If you are that much of a clutz , we do install over 30 categories,  I'll pass you on to the install specialist.  "cause I am not fixing your house for dinner and a glass of wine.

4. I joined this dating site to meet new people and see what happens!  Are you aware of a place called "outside of your house"?  There are real people out there, you can meet them!

5. I was married for 5 years from 1990 to 1995. We had a nasty divorce but now are the best of friends.  Too much drama.  Some people are meant to be friends.  And/or you really don't need to marry everyone you sleep with!

6. I'm looking forward to a meeting of the minds, to fun and arm wrestling.  Arm wrestling?? Seriously??  I always thought that was something teenagers did, because they weren't having sex!

 7. My match would be someone who is emotionally available. One that believes 1+1=Love.  I firmly believe that if you don't love yourself, no one else can truly love you and you become a needy whiny pain in the ass.

8. I wanted to win my son when we play video games together, back then he was 14 years old, and I did practice while he is not at home, but was never able to win him.  I've heard of a trophy wife, but a trophy kid?  You need therapy.

9. How do you sum up a full life into a little box without sounding like everyone else?  Well you don't use up space asking dumb questions!

10. There are as many ways of falling in love as there are snowflakes in a snowstorm.  Hmm, I have some salt around here somewhere....

A quick disclaimer - no boys, I'm not on the dating market, but this meme has funny potential.

The Dating Profiles Meme: Play With Me

1. Why is this so hard? Well I'm here aren't I?

2. Walk with me. Because I really can't slow down enought to talk to you otherwise.

3. My software is state of the art. Well the last skein of handpainted yarn I bought is both soft and art!

4. Can’t believe I did this. But since I don't waste time on regrets, deal with it!

5. Life is an adventure or nothing. My life is definitely an adventure - but since I get bored easily anything else will send me to a nap!

6. Looking for someone to get to no. I never have trouble finding people to say no to!

7. I am absolutely terrible at this!! Being girly is tough = and I don't wANT TO  practice!

8. Anything is possible, right?Well, my soon to be not my boss, getting a brain is very unlikely.

9. It’s your last day to live, live it. Well, it would be pointless to commit suicide at that point wouldn't it?

10. I enjoy text messages. Don't know if I enjoy them, but I can't live without them!

HaUNTED HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween everyone!

You Are Spooky

You put the trick in "trick or treat," and you won't stop scaring people until you scare yourself.

You love horror movies, dark spooky nights, and the darker side of Halloween. You save the kids' stuff for the kids.

Speaking of kids, you avoid the little candy grubbing monsters at all costs. Well, unless you are looking to give them a little scare.

You think Halloween has gotten a bit to sugary these days, and you don't mind injecting a little fright into things.

As a side note to Grace - this is so totally not me- I love Halloween, I like decorating in a creepy, ghoulish manner - but ask anyone who truly knows me - Even lame scary movies give me nightmares!!

You Are Scary on Halloween

You aren't easily scared on Halloween. You've watched so many horror movies that it's really hard to frighten you anymore.

And because you're so fearless, you are the perfect person to scare others on Halloween. You can really take it to the limit.

Each year you try to outdo yourself with the freakiest costume possible.

You Halloween isn't complete until you hear some very terrified screams... because of you, of course!

Another side note to Grace -I really can't eat more than a handful of candy corn~

You Are Candy Corn

Your Halloween personality is whimsical, colorful, and creative.

You see Halloween as a time to get your creative juices flowing.

Each year, Halloween can't start soon enough for you.

You tend to go all out for Halloween. You decorate like crazy and always dress up.

You Are a Witch

Like a witch, you are often misunderstood and unfairly judged. You are not as sinister as you seem.

You are intelligent and spiritual. You feel very connected to the world - both the dark and light sides of things.

You tend to keep to yourself, and because of this people tend to think things about you that aren't true.

You would just like to be left alone to do your own thing. You have no intention of harming anyone, even though you could if you wanted to!

You Are The Silence of the Lambs

You think the scariest thing in the world is the human mind. What serial killers are capable of frightens you to the core.

You aren't big on gore or action when it comes to horror movies. You rather delve deeper than that... and get completely disturbed.

In fact, you can hardly ever find a horror movie that compares to the nastiness of a true crime story. You couldn't think up the brutal crimes that occur in real life.

In your opinion, no monster can be as scary as a human. You don't have to look far to find someone that totally terrifies you.

You Are a Trick

You were a very mischievous kid, and you still have a naughty streak in you as an adult.

You may not go off and toilet paper people's houses anymore, but you're still up for a lighthearted prank every now and then.

You are truly fearless. You live in the moment, and you're ready to take on any challenge or dare.

Your wild antics sometimes do get you in trouble, but you're also very talented at getting yourself out of trouble!

Sunday Stealing

Sunday Stealing – Jodi’s Meme:

GARTH IS THE MAN!! My life in the words of Garth Brooks.

sundaystealing

Every week Sunday Stealing steals from the blogosphere a meme. They might redo it a little to make it a little more relevant to their players. You have heard of “honor amongst thieves”? In that age-old tradition, they also have their rules. First, they always credit the blog that they stole it from and they will “fess up” to the blog owner where they stole the meme. You can click either the picture above or the link for more instructions and information.

Today they ripped this meme off a blogger known as Jodi from the blog Moody Blue. JodiBlogAugust She has tagged a bunch of folks on facebook to do it. She did not say where she got it from. But, it could have stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as they go. Tracing back their theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to them at Sunday Stealing!

INSTRUCTIONS: Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat a song title. It’s a lot harder than you think! Post as “Jodi’s Meme: My Life According to (BAND/ARTIST NAME)” The great thing is that if you have already done this meme, you can do it again with a different artist! Please do!

Sunday Stealing

I have nothing to blog this weekend. I'm not sure where my camera is, so I can't take any pictures to post about. It's still raining, not great thunder storm rain, just depressing incessant blah rain. Sucking all the life out of me. A bunch of people that do Thursday Thunks do the Sunday Stealing meme so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Cheers to all us thieves!

Sunday Stealing: The Finish The Sentence Meme

1. I've come to realize that my last kiss... was so sexy, because it came from an amazing guy.

2. I am listening to... the tv show I'm watching " Man vs. Cartoon" where they try to successfully create the engineering of Wile E Coyote. We all know he's my hero. If I wasn't such a wimp I'd have a Wile E tattoo on my left ankle.

3. I talk... not as much as my daughter.

4. I love... so many things and people , they would be hard to name.

5. My best friend/s... have been with me literally forever. They are the greatest 5 guys, and have gone with me through the good the bad and the really ugly.

6. My first real kiss... must have sucked as I have absolutely no recollection of it.

7. Love is... very mis- understood and met with unrealistic expectations. I once heard that ancient greek had like over 20 words for different loves (after all my love of sushi is not really comparable to my love of Curt) We should have that in English.

8. Marriage is... the rock that holds my kite string so I don't blow away and get lost.

9. Somewhere, someone is thinking... if she has nothing to say why does she keep blogging?

10. I'll always... drive a stick shift.

11. The last time I really cried was because... my dad died.

12. My cell phone... holds the keys to my life, phone, friends, calendar.

13. When I wake up in the morning... do not get between me and my coffee.

14. Before I go to bed... I try to get curt to come too.

15. Right now I am thinking about... what I want for breakfast.

16. Babies are... not my cup of tea.

17. I get on Myspace... never

18. Today I... will knit on my afghan, work on my Beach swap, watch the race and hopefully catch a nap before the race.

19. Tomorrow I will be... hoping C delivers my carpet.

20. I really want to be... in better physical shape.

b042_despair_posters_sanity

From Gracie's blog lovincomfortknits on Friday:
Vanessa tagged me with this Friday Meme
Friday's Question.....
If you had all the money in the world what 5 things would you do first with your money?
  • definitely have Tommo quit his job
  • pay off our bills and all of our childrens bills
  • give Tom a million and myself a million to share as we care to with our friends etc
  • build a log home with indoor swimming pool and lots of fireplaces in a very remote wooded location with a pond or small lake
  • save someone's home from foreclosure, we lost ours that way and it sucked, so we would try to spare someone, especially someone with kids from the same fate
and a 6th one go on a yarn spending frenzy!

NOW your turn to answer the question I am going to choose 4 people ..YOU CAN CHOOSE how many people you want to do this.

Trudy
Jennifer C
Ria
and Melissa G
~~~~~~~~~~~~
ok, now my answers:
1. pay for Angel's college and set her up in whatever career she choses.
2. set up a charity fund for the charities I already support . I always figure when people hit the lottery etc big, they get hit up by every charity out there. And I always said if I win a huge amount I'll give $$ to the charities I'm willing to give the money I work my ass off for now.
3. buy a house on the lake and a townhouse near a ski mountain. One would have to be big enough that I could fly in all my knitting/Nascar friends in on Sundays to watch the race.
4. Take a year off, buy a motorcoach, and go to all 38 (the 36 regular races, the all- star race and the bud shootout) of the year. (maybe if it's big enough to require a cdl - I'll just have to hire C to drive it around the country for me ;P)
5. Find something to do part-time (seriously I can't not - it's brain damage), give Curt the money to play with his hobbies as long as he does something functional at least part time too.
You know I rarely tag anyone- so if you're reading this and want to use this feel free.
Vacation anyone?
I'm sort of playing hookie today. I went into work, but was done with what I had to do by 10:15. I have a headache that Excedrin put in the background but it's still there enough to be annoying. So I told the ops mgr that I was going to lunch and not coming back. After I post here, I'll give a quick check to Ravelry and then I plan on taking a nap!! I would like to say that I really do like my job. But some days/weeks the corporate head honcho's in Atlanta seem like they just want to irritate the sh*t out of me. It's been irritating the last 2 days. Not enough to really piss me off or anything, just enough that I really couldn't deal with it on top of the headache.
I saw on Grace's blog (lovincomfort knits - the link is on my sidebar) that she did the top ten things she likes to do on vacation. Being as work was annoying, I think that pondering vacation would be nice. So I am totally stealing her idea here.
RIA'S TOP TEN THINGS TO DO ON VACATION
10. Take a nap/ sleep in until at least 5:30.
9. Have a beer with lunch. hefeweizen
8. Not have to wear shoes!!
7. Play with a snowman bonhomme
6. "play" with Curt in the afternoon! ;p
5. Sit and watch a fire.
4. Stay in a mountain chalet skichalet
3. Knit as much as I want.
2. Go shopping!
And the number one thing I like to do on vacation.... here's a hint:
MtSaintAnneBeaupreat
NUMBER ONE:
Go skiing!!
Totally Stolen from Grace - Meme, Ten on Tuesday and Stuff
cup.bud.press.stewart.145x93
lovincomfortsknits tagged me for this meme.
Here’s how it works:
Find your 5th photo file folder, then the 5th photo in that file folder.
Then pass the meme to 5 people.
OK- my husband still hasn't gotten the stuff off the hard drive of my laptop yet- and I don't have iphoto on this one yet. So This is the fifth picture off my desktop.
I don't know who to tag - so if you read this and want to do it, consider yourself tagged!!
Ten On Tuesday: 10 Favorite Ethnic Foods
1, Cavetelli & Broccoli - Italy
2. tequilla - Mexico
3. Sesame Shrimp China
4. stuffed grape leaves - Greece
5. Swedish Meatballs & Ligonberry pancakes- Sweden
6. Schnitzel & Spaetzle-Germany
7. Paella Spain
8. Blue Mountain Coffee- Jamaica
9. Sushi Japan
10.Pad Thai - Thailand
Ok- I sooo could not be a high school teacher. These kids are scary!! Mind you the fencing team has the highest average GPA of all the athletic teams at her school. Today was equipment turn in except for the boys foil team which made it to squad states. I showed up with 2 other parents to help. OMG - Before they turned in their equip - all the non-assigned equip had to be gone through and sorted ( last year was kind of unorganized because the one coach was new and the experienced coach was very ill and couldn't make it) Things like someone sort the gloves into righty and lefty and pull out any with holes or are gross and ready to walk away on their own. So after the are sorted I go to count them - apparantly some kids do not know which hand is right and left. Other very simple tasks - like make sure all the zippers work ( how do we do that?) were apparently mind boggling. After this their stuff had to be added to said piles. One kid comes up to me with a saber lame (A jacket that has metallic threads from the waist up for electronic scoring) I ask him righty lefty or back zip? He doesn't know. I ask him if he's righty or lefty. Righty. ok we can rule out lefty. Then I ask him if it zips in the front or the back?? HE DOESN'T KNOW!! I ask him if he's worn it before. He says yes. I just took it and looked. It was back zipped by the way. You would think he would remember having to get it zipped back there!!! Now everything is supposed to be WASHED before turned in. There was some really gnarly things from last years turn in - we used a sword to transfer it to the garbage bag. shudder!!
On the knitting front - I still have to take pics of the 2 cat beds, I have one breeze sock about 25% done. I haven't knit anything since Saturday though. I am trying to take my knitting mags prior to 2007, and cutting out the patterns or articles I think I may use someday and recycling the rest. As of now - SIMPLY KNITTING - the British knitting mag, seems to have the most patterns I want to save. I have bnders set up by category that I'm putting them in. So that is why no knitting for the last 3 days!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the color Cotton Candy Pink and the number 3,333,333,331.
1. You are driving down the road and there is a puddle in the road. A big puddle. Not one that will really wreck your car or anything, but a big puddle. There is no other cars in front of you or behind you - do you drive through the puddle or drive around it? I will admit to driving around the puddle. I am actually irrationally nervous of puddles. I have some issues seeing how deep some puddles are. At one point in a 2 month period I got caught in a mini-flood on my way home from work (different home) The first time it is 1:30 am torrential rain, I had got off work at 1am , I saw the water it looked to me to be about 3-4 inches deep. Well it came up to just short of the bottom of the door, something got wet, car died. I walk 4 blocks home (did I ever mention I DON'T USE umbrellas?) Wake up my husband, to help me get the car to the side of the road. Fast forward a few weeks, another torrential rain, I detour to a different street ( to this day I won't take either street if it's even drizzling) because it is way uphill. Well there was a dip in the road that had filled with water, and I HAD TO GET CURT AGAIN!!! Amazing I'm not divorced.
7. I read yesterday that a school PTA group wants to try to ban white bread, cakes, brownies or any other "treat" from their lunch menus... plus make kids' lunchboxes brought from home not include any "junk food". Thoughts on that one? My daughter's school doesn't even sell gatorade because it's made by pepsi. I think that turning into the junkfood SS is not how we are going to end childhood obesity. Many of the same school groups trying to ban all this stuff are also the districts cutting back on sports and gym. I would have a SERIOUS SERIOUS problem if I was ever told what I could or could not put in my daughter's lunch. My daughter doesn't really eat junk food and let's face it something like a cannoli is not very packable. But there were times when I had to work an overnite or something which made me miss her kiss goodnite and I wouldn't be home in time to give her a kiss in the morning and I would pop a hershey kiss in her lunch to make her smile. Trust me I am a pretty easy going parent about most things, I let the school do what it is going to dom but every once in the while I will go in with both guns blazing. I once told a principal that I was going to do X and she couldn't stop me because it is MY daughter and I have the pink(her Birth Cert)
