GOOD LUCK TEDY!!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I put the fanatic in the word fan in any sport I follow. As such I will live and die by the 49ers in football (not easy these past several years) and will never be swayed. ( I have an uncanny ability of attracting Cowboy fans ... sigh... but try as they may I'm a san fran girl all the way) That being said, I am firstly a fan of football. Great football. I have some pretty high standards when I look outside the Bay, but there have been and will be players that I must tip my hat to, even when they play for a despicable team. One of said players has retired. Even to people who are not fans of the gridiron can find inspiration in a guy who is all heart out on the football field. The man even came back from a stroke several years ago. It is kind of rough for me, to see these guys retiring because they are getting too old and it takes too long to get over the pain and yet they are more than half a decade younger than me.

Good Luck Tedy! Thanks for the memories! I will miss you on the field!

51% Logical, 43% Spatial, 12% Linguistic, 29% Intrapersonal, 6% Interpersonal, 16% Musical, 14% Bodily-Kinesthetic and 71% Naturalistic!

"This area has to do with nature, nurturing and relating information to one's natural surroundings. Those with it are said to have greater sensitivity to nature and their place within it, the ability to nurture and grow things, and greater ease in caring for, taming and interacting with animals. They may also be able to discern changes in weather or similar fluctuations in their natural surroundings. They are also good at recognizing and classifying different species.

'Naturalists' learn best when the subject involves collecting and analyzing, or is closely related to something prominent in nature; they also don't enjoy learning unfamiliar or seemingly useless subjects with little or no connections to nature. It is advised that naturalistic learners would learn more through being outside or in a kinesthetic way.

Careers which suit those with this intelligence include scientists, naturalists, conservationists, gardeners and farmers." (Wikipedia)

Rainy Saturday

Another rainy Saturday. But it's just a steady gray rain. No thunder, no lightning just gray and rain. Made pancakes for breakfast. Knit for a while. Went to Target and Wally world. Was going to go to shop rite, decided to make do with the food I got at those two stores. Will hit shop rite tomorrow. Just feeling blah. But I was feeling like that before the rain, so I really can't blame the weather. Took a nap, but I kept 1/2 waking up.

The 49ers are playing the cowboys tonite. If they lose, I really want to call out on Monday, but realistically for that to work, I'd have to quit. It would only be worse on Tuesday.

Knit project wise - I'm only 2 rows from 159 stitches (the set up rows) for my traveling woman shawlette, so by next week I can start the actual pattern. I really love how the colors are knitting up in this yarn. I finished my dishcloth swap for September for the 12 dancing dishcloths swap group on Ravelry. I am about 1/2 done with my projects for the spa swap in the Squares Squared group on Ravelry. There is a swap i signed up for on my Chase for the Championship Nascar group on Ravelry, I guess I find out who my partner for that is next week. I haven't worked on Angie's socks at all this week . That's about it knit wise.

Hope everyone's having a more exciting or at least more fun weekend!!

Fan Car

Kenny Wallace (the only Wallace worth notice) decided to have a fan sponsored car for the race in Montreal this weekend. I like Kenny - he's hysterical to listen to, he does the NASCAR pre-race show so I watch him every race weekend. Ever since I found out you could follow people on Twitter in Gogglereader ( no I don't tweet - won't be tweeting) I've been reading his tweets. Talk about random trains of thought, but periodically he's really sweet and tweets about how much he misses his wife on the road, or how much he loves his wife.

Any way, me being the race geek bought a sponsorship. We made the hood!! We are 30 rows from the bottom, the second name from the left. So if you watch the race, root for Kenny!!

Thursday Thunks

BS, Dog Kisses, Memories And You Guessed It...More!

Welcome to the August 27th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number of kids I have and the color of dead roses.

1. Have you ever played Bullshit? That's some sort of card game isn't it? It was in a Matthew McConaughey movie once. That's as close as I've gotten..
matthew_mcconaughey_photoshoot-4028

2. A dog licks you on your face. Are you disgusted or thinking it was sweet? Depends on the dog?? Cats are sweet.ocelot

3. Tell us about a fun/special memory you have of a grandparent. My grandma on my dad's side was a really special woman. She had a quick, hot temper. She didn't mind having a houseful of her seriously insane teenage grandkids for the entire summer without any parents. She was a serious believer in better living through chemistry.

4. Have you ever pet a rat?Do some of my ex-boyfriends count?? ratatouille-remy

5. If I walked into your kitchen, where are the cups? Over the sink.

6. Since you already let me in your home, I found the cup and had water, now where's the bathroom from the kitchen? You used a cup for water?? I do have glasses for that you know. Cups are kinda for coffee and tea and the occasional soup and sandwich.
Woody_coffee_mug_01

7. Have you ever pet a turtle or tortoise?Turtle_Back_Zoo_entrance
I vaguely remember going to Turtleback Zoo when I was either in pre-school or maybe kindergarten, and there was a giant tortoise to pet and it was as tall as me, but they wouldn't let me ride it.

Sunday Stealing

Sunday Stealing – Jodi’s Meme:

GARTH IS THE MAN!! My life in the words of Garth Brooks.

sundaystealing

Every week Sunday Stealing steals from the blogosphere a meme. They might redo it a little to make it a little more relevant to their players. You have heard of “honor amongst thieves”? In that age-old tradition, they also have their rules. First, they always credit the blog that they stole it from and they will “fess up” to the blog owner where they stole the meme. You can click either the picture above or the link for more instructions and information.

Today they ripped this meme off a blogger known as Jodi from the blog Moody Blue. JodiBlogAugust She has tagged a bunch of folks on facebook to do it. She did not say where she got it from. But, it could have stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as they go. Tracing back their theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to them at Sunday Stealing!

INSTRUCTIONS: Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat a song title. It’s a lot harder than you think! Post as “Jodi’s Meme: My Life According to (BAND/ARTIST NAME)” The great thing is that if you have already done this meme, you can do it again with a different artist! Please do!

Cheers to all us thieves. I'm not a regular participant in sunday stealing, but my friend Thom is ( his blog is on my sidebar Thom's Place 4 Well Whatever) and it seemed liked a lot of fun this week!

I have nothing to say.

Really, nothing at all. the weather has been really hot, humid and muggy. It sucks And drains all the life out of me. Three different afternoons last week I ended up taking a 2-3 hour nap after my shower after work. Friday, I took Angie to lunch at Panera's, went to Target for some stuff, went to Borders to get the new issue of Simply Knitting - my favorite Brit mag. Angie "wasn't in the mood" to shop ( she thinks I'm going to give her my card and let her loose with her friends - not!) but Curt thought we'd be there longer so came to the mall, so we had dinner at East Cafe - Angie and I had sushi (if you get more than $20 it's 50% off) curt got 2 pieces of sushi and chicken teriyaki. yup, that was my most exciting afternoon/evening all week.

Last night was the race at Bristol - not talking about it. And the 49ers played the Raiders at the same time!! Came really close to a stroke - the 49ers were losing for most of the game and we aren't even talking about Tony.

Today - is still hot and humid despite all the rain we had yesterday so grocery shopping was the only thing I accomplished outside of the house today. I did make a peach cobbler - came out kinda weird (I blame the humidity) but it tasted good.cobbler

The heat and sun have been good for my container garden, I've been getting so many hot peppers, I've been dicing and freezing them and I'll be making - pesto again probably tomorrow. ALso getting tons of cherry, sweet 100's and grape tomatoes. The heirloom tomatoes are finally fruiting but it will be a week at least before they ripen.

baskets

knitting wise I turned the heel on Angie's sock. I'm still on the set up rows of my moms shawl - I'm at 110ish stitches and I need to get to 159 before the pattern actually starts. I've joined a few swaps out of sheer ennui, one is a spa cloth swap, one is a 12 month dishcloth swap - send a dish cloth to a different group member every month - my month I'll get 11 cloths from them, A cotton scrap round robin - cotton scraps and extras are sent from person to person - whatever you take out you replace with something else, I think I signed up for a NASCAR knitters swap - haven't gotten a partner or anything yet so that's on the back burner. In four weeks when we find out who is on top of the Race to the Chase I'll have to send out a package (My driver, the serial killer as we dubbed him - Clint Boyer is definitely not in contention) We'll see which driver I get for the actual Chase. And I signed up for next season's Dancing with the Stars group - we'll see who I get there.

I'm done with the spa swap, but can't post pictures as I don't even know who my partner is yet. I am almost done with my first dishcloth, but also can't post until they receive it.

Hope I haven't bored you to sleep.
Have a great week!!

THURSDAY THUNK

Thursday Thunks - stupid questions that you love to answer

Welcome to the August 20th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the number ziltch and the color of spider webs.

1. Your thoughts on hunting?p069217ii02
s7_419033_imageset_01

What kind of hunting are we talking about?? I prefer bow hunting ( crossbows legal again woo hoo!) but am pretty good with a rifle or shotgun. I have one of these - right next to my shop rite card -- yeah I is a redneck...
reward

2. Swine Flu vaccine... will you get it? I do believe we answered a swine flu question before. Same answer - it's the flu, people die of the flu every year - mostly young babies, the elderly and frail, people with other health issues compromising their immune systems... i am none of these.
MissPiggy
this picture is dedicated to bud!

3. What is one job/profession that you think there are just too many of? A little bit torn here. My first instinct is to go with lawyers. That is now #2 on my daughter's career list. So on further review, we are going to with all the useless government beaurocrats that do nothing but generate red tape, cost tax dollars, and create such hassles to the rest of us. Of course with the dem's in charge there will be more of these fleas than ever.

4. I want to go on a diet, what advice will you offer me? Take up knitting, hard to stuff your face when your hands are full. carribean dreams

5. You are going out on a date with someone for the very first time. When you get into their car, you see a box of condoms on the floor. What do you do? Hmm, I'm married, why would I be on a first date?? But if I were out with some other guy, I would say the need for condoms would go without saying.. I mean why would I date another guy if that's not what I wanted?? Most of my friends are guys so it wouldn't be to talk sports right? That said I would definitely bring my own, and have to lecture the guy on how the heat breaks down the effectiveness of said condoms... come to think of it, if he didn't know that he'd be too stupid for me to boink anyway...

6. Name something in your bathroom that shouldn't be there. I'm kinda wondering what the heck kind of answers I'll see for this?? I mean it's a small room, kinda has 3 maybe 4 uses. What could people possible have in there?? A quick peek in mine reveals my daughter's jewelry next to the sink... hmm, I kinda like that bracelet....

7. What was your Kindergarten teacher like? For real??? I barely remember my daughter's kindergarten teacher!! I actually have no dicernable memories of anything I can attach to kindergarten. ( Anyone wanna bet Bud's got a picture of a hottie to answer this question??)

8. What kind of oil do you use when you cook? Extra virgin olive oil - is this hypocritical?? Except for deep frying theb it's crisco vegetable oil.

9. If someone takes an unflattering picture of you and posts it online, do you beg them to take it down or do you laugh at yourself with everyone else? Have you not been paying attention?? ALL pictures of me are unflattering! If you're going to post one - go with my college years - they won't shatter your monitor at least!

10. What brand of dishwashing soap do you use? Another not paying attention question. Have nails. Curt like my nails. Nails and dishes not a good mix. And I hate rubbers (gloves that is, did you not read #5, have my own of the other kind) so Curt uses Dawn.

weeekend knitting

Too hot to knit or even think today, so here's what I worked on over the weekend. Mind you most of Sunday's race was spent trying to decide what I wanted to work on and then picking a pattern and then balling the yarn. So this is angie's sock so far:

rick

And this is my mom's Christmas shawl so far. The pattern is Traveling Woman - The yarn is twisted fiber's Janus, but I'm calling the shawl beach glass.

How do I describe my day??

So, as I said yesterday, I agreed to go help another location with their post inventory stuff. I ended up working there until 830pm. By the time I got home it was almost 10. (pretty damn close to bedtime!) This picture is the only way I can describe how I felt there. I cannot believe an inventory was done in this condition. They had the highest flash shrink in the district in like the last 5 years. And the sad part - I bet you a lot of the stuff was there. I kept grabbing the dept supervisor by the arm, pointing at an area and all that would come out of my mouth was "DUDE?!?!" I don't blame him 100%. He only inherited the department a month ago , but DUDE?!?! They didn't count an entire roll of carpet because someone had taken down the sample without replacing it and no one knew what it was so the tag had a giant red question mark!?!?!? DUDE?!?!?

I told him if his store manager talks to mine, I'll come down a couple of Tuesdays if he is working and help him a little. He's a bit overwhelmed. I did pop 19 orders for carpet, so by next Friday he needs to get those machines straight. DUDE?!?!?

The cool thing was since I didn't go into my store until 9am ( I wasn't working more than 11 1/2 hours) So I had breakfast with Angie. I'm pretty sure she went back to sleep after I left though. Speaking of the princess, she went down the shore with 2 friends and one of their parents. Good thing about some peer pressure - her friends parents are stricter than we appear to be, so she thinks we're cool, but stays in line cause that's where her friends are!

I've been working on her sock. There was a problem with the gusset set up round, but an easy to figure out one.

Have a great day!! Tomorrow's the race at Michigan - GOOOOO SMOKE!!!

THURSDAY THUNK

Questions About This And That And That Other Thing
Welcome to the August 13th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 4812 and the color of storm clouds.

1. Hypothetical question- you are in a building with famous works of art, old manuscripts of famous novels, and original sheet music from famous composers. The building is on fire and looks to be completely destroyed. Do you grab any of the famous works before fleeing, and if so what? Just wondering here - would not a building that houses that type of works (which would be priceless and thus have some serious insurance riders) be forced by their insurance carrier to have some sort of fire supression system in place ( i realize water sprinklers may be a bad idea) And so wouldn't attempting to remove an item actually make it more likely that said item would be damaged in some way?? Of course if it meant that one of these guys would come rescue me - I'd grab whatever I could get my hands on! firefighters

2. In August 1969, the Manson family went on a 2 night killing spree. Do you think 40 years later they have paid for their crimes? Two words - Death Penalty. The answer is NO, the people aren't alive again are they? Can those people feel happy, sad, smell the spring breeze, share the lives of the people they love? NO.

3. Power Outage! What's the longest you have been without power? Lightning hit the transformer on the pole in front of our house a couple summers ago. It took JCP&L about 6 hours to bring and install the new one.

4. Just bought a new tazer gun. Will you let it be tested it on you to see if it works, and how it feels to be tazered? Here we go with another 2 word answer -- HELL NO!! What the hell is wrong with people?? Who WANTS to see what it feels like to get tasered? seriously!! Now if you'll send him to give me CPR - maybe ....

5. A neighbor's mail was delivered to you. In it is a magazine not wrapped in plastic. Is it ok for you to flip through it before giving it to the neighbor? Do you tell them you looked through it? I can tell you what mag's my neighbors get. Because this happens on a regular basis. AARP, Retirement Living, Senior something, Prevention. Yawn... Nope would not want to read those. now if they got a magazine with Him on the cover I may just keep the thing!!ottawa_firefighters

6. If I went through your purse/wallet right now, what all would I find in there? Keys, sunglasses, burts bees lip balm, a lot of eyeglass wiped, size J metal crochet hook, pen, goody's headache powders, cell phine, $21.47, wallet - drivers license, debit card, AAA card, registration, insurance, health insurance, prescription cards, ok - I'M BORED USE YOUR IMAGINATION FOR THE REST!!

7. Have you been living under a rock? No but some days when my back hurts I'd like to take a nap on a nice hot sunwarmed rock.

8. Tell us something crazy you did this week. Agreed to help another location with their post inventory audits until 8pm tomorrow!!

Yarn Porn

This past weekend we were in Philly. As I mentioned previously the trip was supposed to be Curt's Father's Day present, but I kinda hijacked it. I feel bad. The Flying Fish tour was pretty lame. And the tasting was 2 bathroom size dixie cups of beer on tap. They didn't tell you about their beers, not even what you were tasting for in the samples. The tour at Sam Adams was much, much better. They told you a lot more about the brewing process, and during the tasting, they explained wheat vs barley beers, how the amount and type of hops affects the taste. When you tasted the sample, they told you about some of the taste notes that beer had. And of course, other than exit 4 I really don't care that much for their beer. Road trip to Ireland for a Smithwicks tour anyone?? Ok guess it would be airtrip.

My Sex ( Stash Enhancing eXpedition went much better)
First, before the tour, we went to Loop on South St. I picked up 2 sets of metal HiyaHiya double points in 2 and 00. And Cookie A's book Sock Innovation. ( I needed those 2 because Angie picked out this yarn and wanted Rick adapted into an anklet) rick I started them on the way home as you can see. I also picked up some yarn in Tony's new colors. It was Berroco's Lustre. Soooo soft!! I really haven't worked with much Berroco ( OK Only those unffinished suede sock slippers) so I don't know how it will be to work with - stay tuned. loop

We also went several blocks away to Rosie's yarn cellar. "Rosie" (don't know if that is her name - she's the owner) is very strange. Very strange. It literally is a little hole in the wall cellar. They do have a great selection if you can find it in the crush. Now, to understand the humor in the yarn I purchased I need to tell you this. angry beavers There used to be a cartoon called The Angry Beavers. Curt loved this show. In one episode there is a law that all the animals had to wear Bear (not bare) feet, So all the animals are shown wearing bear slippers. Even the bear. I usually have bare feet and Curt always makes fun of me saying they are BEAR feet. So when I found yarn by Mountain Colors in Bear Foot I had to have it. (for socks of course) i got 2 colors - winter sky and crazy woman. rosie's yarn cellar
The yarn in the middle is Ella Rae thst Angie wanted me to make something in.

Finally we went to Min's friend Brook's house. She is Twisted Fiber on Ravelry. (i will have to tell you about her son Alex another post - he is a total pip!!) And yes I bought more yarn. First there is twilight - I don't knwo what it wants to be, but I'll just pet it until I figure it out.

cardea twilight - twisted fiber
It's hard to see the colors - it is grey, pale pink with a touch of purple.

I also goth the great pumpkin - I think fingerless gloves for work are written on this hank.
cardea - the great pumpkin- twisted fiber

And finally I am going to make a storm cloud shawlette with Janus flight for my mom for Christmas.
