Sensational Haiku Wednesday
Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!
The basics:
Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Hope

 Ash Wednesday is here,

Lenten time of reflection,

Prepares for Easter.

Give up sweets, chocolate

coffee, alcohol, swearing?

Does that really help?

Time to reflect on

Our lives, our hearts, ready to

Welcome in the Lamb?

Will this 40 days

Be another year wasted?

Or be different?

  1. RiA what a great message. Anyone that observes Lent or those that don't can really respect this! I keep askin my boos if I can give up work for Lent she says she'll consider it when I become Catholic! LOL

  2. Lent is about Christ's sacrifice for us. He gave up his life. How incredibly selfish of us to equate that with giving up chocolate. On the other hand, I am not certain most of us (myself included) could really handle 40 days of Christ-like sacrifice.

  3. Interesting take on the Hope theme at this time of Lent. Have you given up anything?
My hubby has given up chocolate :O)

  4. Lenten observations can be, well, kind of hopeless exercises...unless... (and I leave it for every reader who goes on this journey to fill in the blank with something hopeful!).

  5. I've given up eating haggis for lent. (like I'd eat it anyway...)

    Nicely tied into the date!

I've gotten rid of the word verification for posting comments. To tell the truth, I have trouble reading the new stuff they are using. Feel free to disagree, but spammy or obnoxious comments will not go up.
