Yes I'm still here

So I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was what they wanted it to be. We played an interesting game yesterday. Before dinner everyone had to fill out 5 papers with something they were thankful for. Then, they got read off and people had to guess who wrote it. I didn't know about the guessing part so mine were for the most part easy.

1. My wonderful, spirited, funny, smart, caring, scarily goal oriented daughter.
2. That I married someone who after 18 years is still my love, soulmate, partner, but most of all my bestest friend.
3. That my mom just got her clean mamogram 1 year after surgery, as she still has so much to share with my daughter.
4. That my father in law is a ready willing and able partner in crime for my daughter.
5. That even though I sometimes seem to have some kind of multiple personality disorder ( please anyone with actual diagnosed mental illness do not be offended) I have great friends to go with each facet of my craziness.

So let's see, brother, sister and sister in law not married, Angel the only grand kid. How hard were those to guess. One of Curt's was "my wife still takes my breathe away" how cool is that??

An article I read talked about a survey that said American's have less to be thankful for this year and I think that's sad. Because it shows how in our consumer culture, people consider things more to be thankful for than the people in their lives. And I really can't stand most people on the planet. And I read another news article how people at a Walmart charged the door this morning, knocked over the man opening the door and trampled him. When he was on the ground people were stepping on him. And then they got mad when the police made them all leave because someone had been killed. How freaking crazy is that?? My thoughts and prayers go out to that man's family. They also injured a woman 8 months pregnant.

This morning my daughter worked the gift wrap table at Borders to raise money for her fencing team. Afterward she wandered the mall with her friend Fiona. SO when I got home from work at 115, Curt took me to lunch at the diner.

Knitting updates

Over the weekend I finished the unpurled hat (will be making an unpurled cowl to match)

cable hat

I also have been working on the hidden in my sock shoe

hidden in my shoe sock

I met up with Grace at Mara's this afternoon. I am utterly exhausted, but
I just needed to get with someone who would listen to me whine.
(PS please say a prayer for her friend's daughter who has some serious issues) She brought the 3 hanks of yarn she wound into cakes for me. yay!

I wandered through the whole liquor store looking for wine to bring my sister in law for thanksgiving. I got Billy Goat Shiraz. It is really an inside joke for my father in law who keeps threatening to buy a bunch of goats to marry her off.

Check it out! Reactions!

Check out the bottom of this post, reaction boxes! right now I have them set to love, yawn, funny, agree and disagree. I may change that going forward but it is a start. How cool is this? Since most of my visitors come here from Ravelry, they will be familiar with these.

I had a great birthday, started out with breakfast at Cracker Barrel (grits, catfish, eggs & biscuits) Had homemade tex-mex for lunch and chinese for a seriously late dinner (breakfast was at 7a, dinner at 11p) My house is still a wreck (sigh) I guess I know what I'll be doing on Saturday. ( I have to work black friday, even though no vendors will be open and receiving will be closed, there will still be possible price changes and friday's orders and audits have to be done.) Plus I have to cover for Dennis in his 2 dept's. I do owe him - he covers my 12 day vacation at the end of December every year. But the real bummer is the building is closed on Thursday. They won't re-open it until 5am on friday. This means I have to work until 2 instead of 1. And since I'm working 4 days I can't use the extra time I have from the beginning of the week to leave early. As I mentioned before receiving is closed ( they make receivers work on the floor and attempt to help customers ) so no carpet truck ;( and unless my bound rems shipped first thing this morning I don't think I'll have a truck on wednwsday either ;( Sigh.

As soon as my daughter comes home from school to help me with the random number generator thing, I will have winners from my blog contest --- so stay tuned! Also, I have to download pic's of the sock I started and the hat I finished.

Later!

The end of an era. The longest standing driver/crewchief pair in NASCAR split. It will definitely be odd next year to see some punk kid in the orange 20. My best thoughts and wishes definitely go out to Zippy and the entire 20 crew. Those guys are true champions. And looking with some uncertainty at Daytona in February. Although as anyone who knows me knows, my heart will always belong to Tony, and I will be out in full force rooting for the 14!

Of course first I must survive a very long, long, long winter without my NASCAR fix. I feel the dt's coming on already.

Anyone from NY Please read!

If you are from NY, please follow this link to knittywytch's blogs. This is preposterous!! If the state is collecting child support from "deadbeat" parents the state is imposing a service fee on the RECEIVERS!! I really think if a person isn't paying support to the point where the state is garnishing wages, the deadbeat parent should pay the resulting fees!!1

Carnivore's 100

Ok, quick update and then I'll leave you with a meme to ponder. Yesterday, I met up with Sandy, Grace and Jacqui. Yes, you read that right, Jacqui and Grace finally hooked up. I kept picturing the m&m's commercial with Santa when they each goes he does exist and pass out. Hee hee hee. Had the fencing booster club meeting last night. Still too aggravated to write about that.

Today, work was kind of slow. I had stuff I could do, just didn't want to and it could wait. There were NO trucks to do :( But I did get my carpet truck in. C was in rare form though. Picked on me the whole time.

I did meet up with Grace after work and we drove down to Bernardsville to the Knit Lab, a LYS. I always meant to get down there, just never did. Anyway the huge sign in the window said up to 70% off, didn't see anything past 50. Grace got a bunch of yarn, I was havng more issues. See I decided I'm not buying more orange yarn for a while, cause Tony had his last ride in the orange 20 last Sunday. His new ride is red w/black and white. So I really need some red stuff. There was so much wonderful orange yarn though, it just kept calling out to me! Sigh. Did find red + multi colored yarn and pink Lobster Pot yarn - a gorgeous wonderful feeling bulky yarn hand dyed in a Lobster Pot and line dried on Cape cod. I'm making Angie a cowl with it. I'll post pic's in a week or so- Grace took the hanks home to wind into balls for me.... THANKS GRACE!!!! This is like the perfect plan. Curt will be mad I bought stuff 3 days before my birthday, 'cause I yell at him when I don't know what he wants and he buys himself something right before his birthday or Christmas or whatever. But yarn isn't something I could send him for, and a GC doesn't work if I don't know if they have anything I want. So this way when it comes in the house it will be balls and he won't notice it. So I'm not hiding anything, just keeoing the peace!

I ran a few errands and then took a nap for an hour and a half. Made dinner and now here I am.

Weekend

lacey anklet

So I finished the lacey anklets. Have some issues with the yarn ( of course being a freebie my friend Sandy gave me from a knitters retreat/convention she went to I can't complan too bad) the left sock pooled a lot. Seriously. It's even worse on the bottom, but i can't take a picture of the bottom of my foot - not as limber as I once was. Ok, it was a giveaway. but why would i then want to spend money on hanks when the yarn pooled. And i know sometimes the colorways pooling is pretty. Not here. The other thing - i should take a pic of the yarn I have left. if you wanted to make socks that actually went up your calf you would need at least 3 hanks. Also had some issues with the pattern. I thought the reason the first sock came out twisty was that I missed the fact that every other k2tog row was through the back loop. Well I did it right on the second sock and it is still a bit twisty. On the plus side - they are comfy and they are short so they'll be under my sneakers most of the time.

lacey anklet

My daughter worked the concession stand at the football game this morning. ( it's warm 65ish but on and off pouring rain today and she wondered why there were'nt a lot of people in the stands!) I had gone grocery shopping at 7:30 this morning, so while she was at the game Curt and I snuggled under the covers for a rainy day nap. Bliss sheer bliss!

Tomorrow I better get comfy in my car. Angie has a can shake for her fencing team at Shop Rite from 845 to 11. But she has powderpuff practice from 930 to 1015 because they never practiced on the field. So she got another girl to come cover from 920 to 1020. I'm the chaperone for that time, so Curt has to come pick her up and bring her back. Then she has to go 2 towns over to work on a fund raiser for her trip to equador. for half an hour. She has to be back at the field for her powderpuff game by 12:45. I'm hoping to get home by 3 or 330 to watch the final Nascar race of the season. And worry about the 49ers.

Friday the Devils lost. But last night they won in 2 overtimes. Sigh. The Irish won today. I watched the Yale / Princeton game instead of the Notre Dame game in case it was me jinxing them. The Aggies lost, but by only 20 points woo hoo....

I think I need some kind of anti-depressant or sedative for the weekends. One weekend I'm going to have a cranial implosion or something.

Angie went out to the movies last night. Stressed a bit as her friend drove her ( but on the plus side it isn't one of her "flaky" friends) but it was seriously pouring rain. Curt was bowling so I was home alone. Pretty pathetic, but I actually enjoyed the empty house.

Day 16 of NaBloPoMo and I am still in it! I had my doubts if I'd do it, but I'm over the hump now!

Don't forget to leave a comment to my post from Nov. 14th! Contest is for 2 different hand dyers yarn! Gift cert/credits so you can order what you like! Contest ends on Saturday the 22nd!!

Ravelversary!!

Ok, November 14th - I have been a member of Ravelry for a year!! I've been thinking back and it seems like I've been on for more than a year. I tried to see how Ravelry has changed my knitting life. I started to keep track of my stash and needles when I first joined, but I haven't really been keeping up. I used to search the net more for patterns, now I start my search and often end it on Ravelry. I used to use google as my primary go to when looking for info on yarn.. Now I click on the yarn tab. Kudo's to Casey (codemonkey) for adding the shop link to buy the yarn I look at. the forums. I belong to a handful of groups on MSN. But it is like 3 knitting groups, a NASCAR group, a Tony Stewart fan group, a Home Depot group. But the forums is cool 'cause it's NASCAR fans who knit, 49er fans who knit etc. So it starts co-mingling my interests which is nice. I mean when I comment that the race made me lose track of my pattern and caused me to tink back 17 rows, there are people who understand! There is also a LOT more activity on the Ravelry forums. And since MSN is getting rid of groups next year anyway.... I also like having my projects from start to complete in one spot.

The amount of charity knitting is awe inspiring as well. There are groups dedicated to just charity knits of one sort or another! I made 4 afghans and a whole bunch of squares for Victory Junction Gang Camp. I still don't know what the final tally will be , but I wouldn't of even known they needed the 'ghans without my Ravelry Go Fast Knit Left group!

But I think the best part of Ravelry is the people I have met through the site. Love being able to keep up with their blogs on the friends page , seeing what they are marking as fav's etc. But the absolute icing on the cake is the real life friends I have made. There is Grace and Sandy , Jacqui and Mary that I meet with at Mara's for coffee and knitting ( ok it's right after work so lunch too) and I am still going to get down to Philly to go out for sushi with Min.

Now for the contest part. Reply to this post with one thing that has made a serious impact by Ravelry. Is it a friend you made? A techinique you got support to try? A place to vent about spouse/or kids? A place to market your etsy??

Contest will run from now until November 22nd ( my birthday) All commentators will go in a hat and the winner drawn from there. Please make sure I have a way of reaching you. ( since I would assume you have a ravelry name - I can then pm you if you win) The 2 prizes will be a gift certificate to Scoutsswag and I am working on a way to get a credit at Pennyrose's etsy shop (If that doesn't work out it will be to another hand dyer for sure) 2 great dyers I would not even know existed if not for Ravelry!!

Good luck!

Thursday Thunks

1. Have you ever pooped in the woods? No

2. You are starving. You have not had anything to eat for days. In front of you is poison ivy, a live hissing cockroach, and a rotten stinky piece of some sort of mystery meat to eat. Which would you pick and why? poison Ivy - it doesn't affect me- I can roll around in it and not have a reaction. Cockroach of any type would have to be squished. Don't like things that smell bad.

3. Bottled or Tap water? Bottled - but spring not filtered.

4. Your dream job, what would it be and why? Tony Stewart's personal blogger - Duh, I'd get to hang out with Tony all day!

5. Do you have any snow globes? Yes, mostly Christmas, a 49er superbowl one, and a magnet one from Cedar Point on the fridge.

6. Do you like your bed? If not, what kind of bed do you want? Yes, but what I really want is one of those old antique english 4 posters with the bed curtains that you need those bed steps to get in.
Feeling slightly more upbeat today at work, although not hugely motivated to do a lot. Had no trucks to play with, so had to do my actual job. I did have some overtime so I got to leave half an hour early, YAY! Two of my friends (both guys) finally were able to help me resolve my hurt feelings and make up with Curt ( and they say women are the complicated creatures!) so I am definitely happier on that front.

Went to meet with my Ravelry knitting friends in Denville. Had some yummy new england clam chowder ( a cold rainy day today) and a turtle cappucino. definitely had some fun although the "F" aura kicked in and Grace who just complimented a fellow customer on a sweater go the whole story of just about every sweater this lady ever owned, and a story about a scandanavian woman who used to fix them. Wish I could just veg tonight, but Angie has a fencing lessona half hour away (good thing me and curt are getting along again - he'll keep me company ant least) hopefully he'lldrive - I really want a nap!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for the start of my ravelversary blog contest! (still trying to figure out the details)

Slightly better mood!

Should have gone to bed at halftime last night. The 49er game last night was heartbreaking! On the plus side, the quarterback has leadership potential and the team was playing as a team for the first time in I don't know how long. Singletery has a lot of passion and drive and has inspired the team. The only problem I see is that he's going for a rough physical running kind of game and the personnel he is dealing with is more set up for the passing finesse kind of game. I don't know how much Frank Gore is getting paid, but it should probably be doubled!! So a loss, but a light at the end of the tunnel.

Not quite so upset with aCurt. Thanks to my friend Moe. And his attempt to interpret the "male" response. Plus with Angie's powderpuff practice we have had a chance to just hang out a bit the two of us. Really haven't talked about it, but I guess actions mean more and talking just gets us in trouble anyway.

Work - right now things are on a day by day basis and we'll see how it goes. Sheesh. way to be indecisive. We had an audit no one told me about today, plus a dm walk and a vp showed up. So the mgrs are all like no freight , no pallets, no carts in receiving or on the floor. How do these people think stuff gets on the shelves! So of course the trailer I normally unload had 2 po's that come from vendors that are causing me fits. So I negotiated unloading the full trailer onto the empty trailer. but I got it all checked in and I tore apart the 2 po's in question ( I was missing 36 things thank you very much!) Then I snuck one pallet of cedar closet liner onto the floor ( we've been down to 4 boxes for 3 weeks) and got 4 guys to help me slam it onto the shelf before I got caught on the floor with the skid. Then I kept sneaking one box at a time. it had me in hysterical giggles.

Went to mail a package out, discovered the post office was closed. had to take it to fed ex instead! Did my laundry yay! Stopped at shoprite for a few things. Picked up some winter ale. Really wanted old fezzywig ale by sam adams. Had some in their winter assortment case last week and really liked it. I asked the cashier if they could order beers they don't carry. He said no problem in case qty's. So I'll have it by the weekend! YAY!

Not 100% yet, but getting better. Still avoiding the whole election thing.

Don't forget! My blog contest will be announced on Friday, my one year blogversary!! Keep watching!

Have to take some pics

Ok, haven't taken any pic's haven't looked for any pics. Will bring pic's back soon. Mailed Min the yellow squares today. Seriously, no more afghans. Love Tony, want to get him points, not that bad! Next year, granny squares, no afghans, definitely no ripples. The last month knitting was actually more stress!

House still a mess, not working on it right now. Pondering laundry, not looking good for today. I didn't get out of work until 2:20 this afternoon. ugghhh. I knew I'd be paying for the 4 day weekend. Do you want to know what was the worst part of it?? The last half hour was doing my sorta boss' paperwork that was supposed to be done by Friday. I usually do it, because if he starts changing counts etc, it will make me nuts trying to fix what he screws up. But I had a lot to do last week. So on Wed when I was leaving (after 3 - I'm supposed to be out by 1) I had it about 70% done. I gave it to him to finish. It was taped to my computer this morning. then he wanted to know how soon it would be done because it was due on fri. I told him I'd do it before I left but my job was getting done first. Then I have no idea who taught the guys at the DC to load a trailer, but seriously they have got to be kidding. The biggest problem is we have these drop down beams in our trailers. The trucks from the vendors don't so our trailers are practically 6 inches shorter on the inside. So these guys take stuff off the vendors trailers, and slide them onto ours. Which you can do pushing the pallet along the floor. The only problem is to get them off you have to lift them at least a hair because you are pulling them off. Well they don't leave the hair. I have been getting very creative, both with my machine work and with the constant stream of curses coming out of my mouth. I almost dumped $2000 of light bulbs that were balanced weirdly on a skid of my tile, and you know nothing was going to happen to my tile (that's why I do the trucks with my tile on them.) And being Monday, I'm supposed to get to play with my carpet truck. I had rems ship on Wed. When they ship on Wed I usually get them on Friday or if they're late on Monday. I also had a roll of commercial carpet ship Wed. So that should have been in today. So I was actually happy because I have a bunch of stuff on Wed afternoon ( my re-scheduled nail appt and an equip inventory at my daughters school) so I was going to leave early. Well by 130, I called the terminal and no, no truck today. So it will be here Wed. Great. Still haven't found anything out at work. Getting to where I don't want to care but I can't stop myself and there is a very un-Ria like pessimist inside my head saying it will turn out exactly how I don't want. Need a shovel, must start digging a hole.

I have given up on Ruth (the Yarnarian's) mystery sock. I was trying to squish the top to make an ankle sock, because neither Angie nor I wear socks over our sneakers. There is no way in hades to squish the top. So looking for a new pattern to use on the pink sock yarn. I still have to finish my lacey anklet so I can start on the 49er sock yarn. I am tempted to join the holiday swap on my msn knitting group. if I do , I'm making the unpurled cowl and the matching hat. I have yarn don't know if I want to deal with another knitting deadline. quick question - can one knit in a hole? Need superwash yarn, need superwash yarn now!

I'm not mad at Curt anymore, but my feelings are seriously hurt. Seriously. Now he's getting pissed about that. But I'm not going to lie and say they aren't. I don't even know what to tell him I need to feel better. I really don't. this has so far transcended our original argument it isn't even funny. I really feel like if my promises aren't sh*t to him why did he marry me?? There are only maybe 4 people alive on this planet right now who actually have access to that part of my brain/heart/soul whatever, that allows my feelings to be hurt ( sad to say my mom is not one of them) and he does. Not helping my whole " the world is crumbling I want to crawl into a hole thing" Not one bit. Must make the hole big enough for alcohol!

Still have managed to avoid all news regarding last weeks election. I am in serious don't want to deal with this denial. So I guess I have to bring enough chocolate for 4 years in my hole. Hmmm, maybe need a cave, don't think I want to actually dig a hole that big. to much work. Although I always wanted to operate a back hoe. Do you think I could learn to do that and get a job on a back hoe?? Then I won't have to seal with whatever crap happens at work. yeah that's the ticket. Find a backhoe school, or maybe crane operator? I don't want to drive one of those paving trucks - that looks too hot for my taste. Oooh speaking of hot, I can drive a backhoe around hot shirtless construction workers!! ok this is starting to sound like porn. With my luck I'd get the bald, beerbelly hairy crew. yuck!

Now for the "big" news. if you've actually made it this far down my rant you can be the first to get a heads up. My Ravelversary is Friday. 11.14. My birthday is Sat 11.22.. I am working up a scheme for a blog contest between those 2 dates. I am not prolific or skilled enough to give away finished goods. I don't really know what yarn would be the most popular as a give away. So ( I use that word too much I think) although I have no idea what the contest will be about, I am going to do a gift cert to scoutsswag she's the one who dyed my 49er sock yarn - does awesome work. And to support the jersey gal from whom I bought my most recent yarn I am trying to work out something with Ruth (the yarnarian) for a gift cert for a hank of yarn and pattern. She doesn't do gift cert's but is going to try to work with me on this. So mark the date and remember to check back here on 11.14!!

Hey All!!

Hey all! Trip knitting did not go that well. I got about 2 inches done on the bottom of my market bag. I really should have done that part before leaving, as it's easier for me to do the mesh part in the car. So on the ride out to Conn. my motion issues seemed to be out in full force. A couple ginger chews helped immensly but I had to take a lot of breaks. I got about 2 inches done on an afghan square while waiting for tours. I was so shot when we got to the hotel, I fell asleep for 45 minutes before we went out for dinner. ( Being a bit under the weather is what usually triggers motion issues ) On the ride home yesterday it was dark and rainy ( Took 3 hours to get home just under 2 to get out there) So I was sort of in and out of a nap the whole ride.

Angie liked Sacred Heart, wasn't too crazy about Quinipiac . Yale she still loves. Of course walking around the campus in the rain was hugely fun. This is the first time we'd been inside the residential colleges. Very very Harry potter. Complete with long wooden tables and huge chandeliers in the dining halls. All students are assigned a residential college which remind me a lot of Gryffindor etc (ok no evil slytherin but you get it) Each college is a dorm, a dining hall, library, common rooms etc etc. Each college has a live in dean and "master". All the intramurals are between the colleges. Although freshmen from 10 out of 12 colleges live in "old campus" apparantly upper classmen help the kids from there college move in, get aclimated get involved in their college. Angie loves the idea - also since most of them were built in the early 1920's and 30's and were inspired by Oxford, they all look like castles. But the insides were all redone one at a time in the last several years so they are all fully modern behind the oldness. Wireless etc. Even the freshmen ge to live in suites - the other schools angie looked at had standard freshmen dorms and suites for upperclassmen. Well, she has the grades, has extracurriculars, community service. She better buckle down for her SAT's and write one hell of an essay. 23,000 kids apply 1900 get in. Well we'll see what happens. Her guidance counselor says she needs a reach school.

Sports wise - I don't know why I even bother. The devils lost, Notre Dame didn't even score, WV lost, I threw my support behind LSU for one day and Bama won. Race at Pheonix today. At least the 49ers don't play til tomorrow. Of course that means I'll be up way past my bedtime. stress.....

Hope everyone's had a great weekend so far!

Weekend Plans

I am actually writing this on Thursday night, as I am spending Friday and Saturday in Connecticut with Curt and Angie. She is going to take a tour of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield and Quinipiac on Friday. On Saturday she is taking a tour and informational session at Yale. We should be back on Saturday night but since I don't know what time we'll be back or if I feel like posting at that time. So to keep up with NaBloPoMo on Day 8, I am posting in advance.

This whole college search thing is going to be very interesting and possibly slightly traumatic. One of the schools Angie wants to look at is Syracuse. Ok, I asked her why Syracuse. Her answer - they get a lot of snow. Oh boy. We had a discussion on things she needs to look at, and she then weeded out a bunch of schools because they are in the middle of nowhere and she wants a town - she loved New Haven last time we were there, loves Baltimore, loves Boston. She wants to be within 4-6 hours away from home. She's not so into the whole Greek thing. She really doesn't like cliquey type social behaviour. She wants a school with fencing, and a big intramural option. She likes tennis and volleyball but doesn't think she's that good and doesn't want to invest that much in them once she gets to college. She's not 100% sure what she wants to do as far as discus and jav. She wants to visit lehigh at some point also. Out of the 3 schools this weekend, Yale is her dream school. She picked the other 2 because they are interesting to her and they are reasonably close to yale. She thinks that once she sees 3 schools and the different things they offer it will give her a better idea of how to look at prospective schools.

On another note - she definitely made it into powderpuff football. She got to pick her number. Originally she wanted 80 for Jerry Rice, but they were only going up to 50 so she picked 43, Bobby Labontes number. Trust me, there will be pics up after that game.

I took a 4 day weekend from work - originally we were going to Yale on Thursday and Boston for the rest of the weekend, but Angie had a meeting for her trip to Equador with Global Citizens network. So here's something that sort of is a pain, She needs to fundraise at least 33% of the cost of the trip. Because they don't want it to be a trip of kids whose parents just write a check. Mind you 3000 is a lot of money and it is a big payment for us to be making for her to do charity work. But, maybe it's because of all the fundraising we were forced to do during all those years of Catholic school, but fundraising is going to be a pain in the a$$! Sigh. I can't tell you how much I needed to just get away from that place. Of course in order to take 2 days off, I ended up working 3 10 hour days and was even more stressed when I left on Wednesday. I won't find out until Monday what I was expecting last Wednesday. It's freaking killing me!! I am even letting Dan unload my carpet truck on Friday. I thought about cancelling Friday's delivery and bringing it in on Monday, but they really need one of the rolls on that truck.

"see" you all on Sunday!

Updates- sort of

Ok, don't have much to write about today. I can't say I've been very productive on the knitting front this week. min needs some yellow squares for the Victory Junction Gang Camp afghans she is seaming from participants that sent in squares not full out 'ghans. Ok, she actually needed a bunch of different squares, but I have some yellow yarn left over from the bright blocks afghan. That really isn't going that well because as I said the other day when I mailed out my 'ghans I am sooo over afghans right now. I'm going to see how much I can get done this weekend and then mail what I've done on Monday.

I have also gotten about 12 rows done on my lacey anklets. One anklet has been done for months - I'm about halfway done on the second. I'm not calling it second sock syndrome, it just fell victim to my "oh my god I have 3 afghans in a partial state of completion that need to be mailed on Nov 3rd" panic. I want to get those done so I can use the needles to work on my 49er socks. I do not (although I have been extremely tempted) want to buy another set of dpn's to make socks with.

I got my husband to be a human swift on Thursday and rolled one skein of pink yarn into a center pull ball. I want to start on Ruth's mystery sock- although I am kind of shrinking the rib and leg to make anklets, so catching up should not be hard as long as I get started before she starts the heel flap.

I have some more Tweedle Dee yarn that I want to try Jen's unpurled cable hat and another set of hat and cowl. I'm giving them to people who won't appreciate malabrigo yarn for Christmas. Yes those sad people do exist!

I am going to Connecticut for the weekend. I plan on bringing the lacey anklets and the yellow yarn for squares. I have to figure out a crochet project because I can't knit in the car but I can do easy crochet. Maybe I'll make another market bag.

Can't think of anything so...

I can't think of anything to tell you and I need to post for NaBloPoMo, so I'm going with today's Thursday Thunk:

  1. The election is over... what do you think? I want to crawl in a hole and not watch the news or read a paper for the next 4 years.
  2. Tell us about a snowman. Angel made me a snowman from styrofoam balls in pre-school. She decided to try to repair it a few years ago, and used the wrong glue and melted the balls.
  3. What brand of ketchup do you buy? I'm a heinz girl
  4. Do you use a cookbook? Sort of, I get the ingredients, read the recipes and then cook it ad-lib.
  5. Do you blow-dry your hair or let it air dry? My hair gets blow dried about 3 days a year. The rest of the time it's air dried, some winter days it gets freeze dried.
  6. When was the last time you were sick? I don't really get sick maybe about 3 years ago. ( I strongly recommend air-borne and zicam every couple hours when you first get that tickle in your throat.)
  7. What is the strangest letter of the alphabet? Z
  8. Who was the last person you bought a present for? What was it? Will you buy me one? My mom, smoked salmon, do you like it?
  9. Why are we ending at 9 questions? Because on this rainy dreary day, 10 questions will take too long.

angie

Angie had a presentation to do at school today. I know when she does her presentations and oral reports etc, she dresses up a bit , but since she usually has practice after school by the time I see her she's in a beat up t-shirt and shorts or sweats. She didn't have practice yesterday so she was still dressed when she came home (She even had on heels you can't see in the picture )

Not going to talk about work, not going to talk about the election, not discussing the HUGE fight i had with Curt - Just want to crawl in a hole and not come out, ever.

min's box

Other side of the box.

Yes, yes, yes!!! At 10:30 Sun night I wove in the last end. Both of the final two procrastination afghan's are done!! If I never see another ripple 'ghan again it will be too soon!! My house is a disaster area. Seriously. Looks like a bomb went off. Haven't tidied it in over a week. Don't get me wrong, the bathroom and kitchen has been cleaned, the sheets have been changed and washed. But the rest?? not so much. But at 2:50 pm Monday afternoon, after making fun of my boxes, the post office postmarked my boxes!! Yay!! They are gone!!! yay!!!

No, my house is still not cleaned. I had a lot of stuff to catch up on. I had to type up and post the minutes from the booster club meeting last Monday. I had to e-mail a bunch of fencing clubs to see if we could set up weapon specific clinics for the team so I could hopefully have some answers before the next meeting on the 19th. I gave up creating some sort of spreadsheet of team members and gave it to the IT Sugardaddy himself to work out. He got so fancy dancy- even has the logo on top and everything. Then he tried reading teenage writing. hee hee hee. Read a whole bunch of e-mails.

Completely depressed about something at work that may or may not happen, that is totally out of my control. Will find out Wednesday. Will let you guys know then...

What coffee are you?

You Are a Cappuccino

You're fun, outgoing, and you love to try anything new.

However, you tend to have strong opinions on what you like.

You are a total girly girly at heart - and prefer your coffee with good conversation.

You're the type that seems complex to outsiders, but in reality, you are easy to please

more sock yarn

So - this is the yarn I have decided to use to make the yarnarian's mystery sock. It is actually a solid color yarn - not one of the 2 I posted last week. i won the yarn with my second place entry in ceci9293 (ravelry) blog contest about solving computer issues. ( my answer was my IT Sugar Daddy) It's solid, it's pink. so as long as I figure out how to modify the pattern to be short ankle socks Angie will wear them.

So now I'm having flashbacks to college - cramming. I have 2 1/2 feet of seaming left to do on the red/white/blue afghan for VJGC (victory junction gang camp) then I have to do a single/double crochet border in three colors around it so the size will be correct. I hope to do that while I'm at the laundromat. I then also have to finish about 8 rows on my ripple 'ghan. All this has to be done so I can mail them out with tomorrow's postmark!! I can really picture myself mailing the ripple out tomorrow afternoon and knitting in line at the post office!!!

I can't wait for wednesday. I am so tired of all the polls about the election. I am so done with afghans. I will deal with whomever wins Tuesday, I want to knit something else!!! ( Yes I am behind because i spent a week doing cowls, but ggaaaaaahhhhh)

For Everyone Who Needs Photographic Evidence

cowboy fan

No your eyes are not deceiving you. That is me. I have on a Dallas Cowboy Jersey, hat, gloves, earrings, hair ribbons, and facepaint. Scariest Halloween costume I've ever worn!! The whole costume came about thursday as I was discussing costumes with my friends. They said my 4 go to costumes ( she-devil, vampire queen, evil witch, fetish fairy) don't count as costumes because they are too much like the real me ( as if for one day I take off my normal person costume) They said to count as a costume it needs to be something as unlike me as possible - like an Angel or a nice person etc. So after much thinking I called my friend/boss Moe at 9pm - woke him up, I thought he was going in to work at 930 oops. And after a lot of confusion on his part, he agreed to bring in Dallas gear for me to wear. Because let's face it I hate the cowboys with every cell in my body. My husband said it reminded him of a Dharma and Greg episode when Greg's parents want to borrow Dharma's parents clothes to be their costumes.

A couple people thought I had lost a bet, not even recognizing it as a Halloween costume. Discovered that curtis can't get over his dilike of facepainters even when it's me in a costume in the paint.

Angie and her friends went out as beanie babies. They went by beanie baby birthday to pick out their bears. Angie used the computer to create patterns to make stencils to spray a long sleeve t-shirt and sweatpants. The also made big red posterboard heart tags. Very cute.

Beanie Baby

I was somewhat disappointed by the low turnout of trick or treaters. WE only had 3 kids. A beetlejuice, a disney princess and a beaver. So now I have a bowl of candy left. And Angie put an extra 117 pieces of candy in the bowl as well. I did get smart after last year. Bought less candy of the stuff i like snagging. . . that may not help my waistline though.

Had a rough day at work yesterday. Was really pissed. they are using my computer after I leave for inventory prep. They PROMISED to plug it in and have it charged in the morning. Yeah right. Well for the 3rd time in the last week it went dead in the first hour I was at work. Which meant that my must do work did not get done first thing. So after I freaked out on Moe ( yes right after he brings me my costume - I am evil) I plugged in my computer and went back to receiving to unload a truck. by the time I got the whole 53 feet done I was feeling a bit better so I volunteered to unload the concrete truck outside. The cold felt soooo good. Went to lunch. Came back started hitting the stuff I should have done in the morning. Would you believe the transformer or something blew up? The power blinked for a minute but it totally screwed up the ISPs ( no idea what they do but they all the computers in the building) and my cart after rebooting the cart 5 times I was totally pissed again.. I stormed back to receiveing ( the only safe place to freak out since I kinda have a potty mouth) and my carpet truck had just shown up. YAY! Did the truck, hung out and bs'ed with him for a while because I couldn't do my job and he had a bit before he had to be at his next stop.
